This first and second floor apartment is in the very heart of Whitby’s old town, in a quintessential pedestrian ‘lane’, with cafes, shops and attractions all around. It is a wonderfully convenient spot for both families and groups of friends, with plenty of space inside the duplex flat for relaxing and socialising. Whitby, well known for its long, sandy beach, delicious seafood and picturesque cobbled streets, is a popular choice for visitors all year round. The town has a great mix of modern shops and traditional stores, as well as excellent restaurants, cafes and tearooms; with festivals and fairs also taking place throughout the year. The evocative ruins of Whitby Abbey, said to have inspired Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, stand on the clifftop over the town and can be reached by climbing 199 steps. From here you can take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. West Cliff beach, with a summer cliff lift, has colourful beach huts, donkey rides and a children’s paddling pool, and you can book a surf lesson if you want to do more than sunbathe and build sandcastles. Venturing further afield, why not take a heritage train through 24 miles of glorious Yorkshire moorland, to the market town of Pickering with its 1930s-themed station? You could also drive 5.5 miles to the former smuggling haven of Robin Hoods Bay, now a picturesque town with a beach, shops and cafes; or visit Staithes, 10.5 miles away, a charming fishing village with winding, cobbled streets.
The entrance to the apartment is between two shops, and takes you straight up a set of metal steps to the first floor, where you enter the apartment itself. The lounge is an appealing space with plenty of soft seating, dual-aspect windows and a traditional fire surround with gas fire. The kitchen has beautiful, Shaker-style cupboards with built-in appliances and a breakfast bar for two, and there is a separate dining room for group meals. On this floor there is also a generously sized utility cupboard and a handy cloakroom. On the upper floor of the apartment you will find three very handsome bedrooms, all decorated with careful thought and with the lovely features of sloping ceilings and windows in the dormers. Two of the bedrooms have double beds, while the third has a double bed with a single bunk bed above it – very useful for alternative sleeping arrangements. All the bedrooms have smart TVs and, for storage, a hanging rail and baskets. On this floor is also a bright and beautifully designed family bathroom.
Whilst there is no outside space, the harbour is close by.
