The Haggs is in a prime location from the seaview from the upstairs window to the short walk to the village. Sandsend is a pretty village with a few amenities. Two beach side cafs, a fish and chip eateries patronised by the local ducks. The Hart Inn was closed due to the retirement of the owners so we didn't have the opportunity to try it. Plenty to do in Whitby, the yellow tour bus, boat trips, shops, cafs, the climb to the abbey. Hide

5 Star review - Very nice property, plenty of room, very comfortable beds, warm and cosy. Lots of kitchen equpiment which was a plus. Utility room was warm to dry our outdoor boots and clothes. Very nicely decorated and well appointed in each bedroom. Bathrooms were very modern. The games room was a great advantage. We were 4 adults, 2 teenagers anRead mored 1 child. We arrived on 27th December and noticed immediately that there were a lot of dog hair on all of the couches in the lounge and the sofa bed in the games room. The T&C's of the property are to NOT allow pets on furniture or upstairs but clearly the previous occupier had allowed this to happen. This put the lounge and games room seating out of action due to dog hair all over our clothes. NOT great. We had to wait until the company opened to ring and inform them. 1) I called and someone answered but could not hear me so dropped the call. 2) I called again and got through. The person at the company was very apologetic and informed me that they would deal with this straight away. She confirmed the T&Cs for pets and was quite upset about the dogs being allowed on the couches. She was very polite and respectful - she promised a deep clean of the areas in question - 5 stars. 3) I then received a call from the first person who could not hear me - again 5 stars as she actually called back! 4) I then received a call from the local person who again apologised and informed me that the housekeeper would be around at lunchtime to deep clean. Again 5 star service We left the keys in the safe and went out. 5) We came back to the house and we could tell immediately that the housekeeper had done an excellent job on the deep clean. 5 stars. So whilst the dog hair was not pleasant the service from holiday cottages was first class. We cannot thank them enough for their prompt, polite and respectful service. I would highly recommend the company to anyone. Thanks from all of us! Happy New Year. Hide

What a wonderful house in a wonderful place. It is perfectly situated in Sandsend, auspiciously for the area, adorned with a great drive for private parking, and a lovely homely feel. Ours loved it so much and it was a joy to see them have such a great holiday after one of them had a serious operation that means anywhere we go we need easy access out to the garden, and the owners have had a wonderful floor put down that is super practical, easy to clean and not slippy (brill for older dogs, older visitors and little ones!)
