Located on a quiet street in the centre of the popular coastal resort of Whitby, this spacious house, which sleeps eight, has everything a large group of friends or family could need for a fantastic seaside holiday. Renowned for its long sandy beach (0.5 miles from the house) and delicious seafood, the town is a haven for holidaymakers and foodies. Wander to the beach and spend the day sunbathing, rock-pooling and swimming, or walk along the miles of golden sand, then grab some fish and chips at the harbour (0.5 miles) on the way home. Explore Whitby’s historic church and abbey and enjoy the views at the top of the 199 steps (0.5 miles away) – while you’re there, hunt out Dracula’s grave in the churchyard. Head out into the local countryside to visit the beautiful waterfall of Falling Foss (6 miles away), where there’s also an excellent outdoor café set among stunning surroundings. Small kids and big kids alike will want to visit the HM Bark Endeavour replica at Endeavour Wharf and learn about the original boat’s amazing voyages of discovery in the 19th century (just over 300 metres away). Take a trip to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum (less than 500 metres from the property) to learn about Captain James Cook’s incredible adventures.
There are 11 steps from the gate up to the single-storey property, which you enter via a spacious hallway with seating so you can sit and take the weight – and your coat and shoes – off. It’s also where the washing machine lives and leads to the spacious lounge/kitchen/diner. With sumptuous sofas to relax on, a large TV and an Xbox, it’s the perfect space to relax in, and features a fabulous, reclaimed wood-panelled wall. This room connects to the kitchen, which is very well equipped with state-of-the-art appliances. An island and small breakfast bar provide more space in addition to the dining table with chairs and benches. Off the living area is one of the four bedrooms – a comfy king-size room with a TV and DVD player, and access to the gorgeous Jack and Jill style shower room with dark marble effect walls via the walk-through closet. The second bedroom also uses the Jack and Jill bathroom. This bedroom also has a quirky glass-panelled sliding door through to the living space, a daybed that becomes a double bed, a TV, and a curtain for privacy. Bedroom three is a pretty twin room with zip-and-link beds which can be made up as a super-king-size on request. The fourth bedroom has a funky bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. Completing the contemporary and cosy home-from-home is the fresh and bright family bathroom.
Guests have two lovely outside areas to choose from: the patio seating at the front, which catches the sun, and an enclosed rear patio reached via the French doors in the kitchen – with a table and chairs, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy dining alfresco together.
