A deceptively large, single-storey lodge perched on the edge of a huge body of water on the Heron Lakes complex, this is the ideal setting for a family getaway, with an assortment of activities close by and in the surrounding areas. There are 75 acres of parkland along with several lakes on-site, offering sailors and fishing enthusiasts, walkers and cyclists, plenty of opportunities to get out and about. The cathedral city of Beverley (6 miles) is home to an abundance of shops, restaurants and dog-friendly pubs close to its market square. Naturalists can see all manner of wildlife at the dog-friendly High Eske nature reserve (10 miles), while water sports lovers will find waves and more off the sandy beaches at Hornsea (8 miles) and Barmston (12 miles).
The main body of the lodge is taken up by the welcoming open-plan living area, comprising a lounge area with a comfortable corner sofa, which sits across from a modern kitchen where family favourites can be prepared and served in the dining area. The whole area bathes in natural light that pours in from the windows and patio doors in the lounge. Elsewhere on the ground floor, a family bathroom sits across from a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with built-in wardrobes.
The wrap-around, south-facing decked area, enclosed by balustrade glass, will receive plenty of warmth on summer days and comes with garden furniture for the whole family – a great place to watch the sunset or enjoy an al fresco evening meal with a glass of fizz as the natural world passes by.
