Delightful stone-built cottage situated in the hilly and wooded countryside of the North York Moors National Park. It is also close to the centre of pretty village of Wass which is to the north-west of the Howardian Hills AONB (11 miles). Being within half an hour’s drive of the ancient centre of York (22 miles), this is the perfect property to blend time in the countryside with all the experiences of a vibrant city. Visit York Minster, walk the city walls, or shop along the photogenic Shambles – there’s so much to do. Otherwise, embark on breathtaking walks around the wild and pretty North York Moors; you could also enjoy other outdoor activities like cycling, climbing, kayaking, and much more. Why not hire an instructor and book a course if you are a keen beginner? Other local attractions include Sutton Bank’s White Horse, the artisan farmers’ market at Helmsley, the miniature steam railway at Gilling East, or a meal at one of Malton’s restaurants – after all, it’s the food capital of Yorkshire.

Enter the property via a hallway from the garden. On the ground floor, you will find the capacious lounge with a wood burner and ample sofas to unwind on after a long day of touring the local area. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with an adjoining dining room which has a glass roof. Close to the kitchen you will find a utility room which is home to a washing machine and drying area. Also, on the ground floor, there is a handy cloakroom with WC for convenience. On the first floor, reached via stairs from the front hallway, there are three bedrooms: one en-suite double, another double, and twin room. Also on the first floor is the bathroom.

Outside there is a large garden with outdoor furniture, a lawn, and a patio.

Delightful property and responsive helpful owner. Our family shared a wonderful week there. Beautiful countryside and local wildlife. Ideal for running, walking and cycling. The garden apples were the best I ve ever tasted too.

We had a very comfortable and happy stay at Melrose Cottage. We had everything we needed in the Cottage and thought the Welcome goodies were particularly good. We enjoyed exploring the area and the cottage gave easy access to lots of things to do.

The cottage was excellent in every respect, and included little touches such as the welcome basket, the board games and books, we had a lovely holiday.
