Take a trip to the Yorkshire coast with this charming retreat in the heart of the historic fishing town of Whitby. If you’re feeling energetic, climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and soak in the phenomenal views from this vantage point. Down in the heart of town, Captain Cook’s Museum, Pannett Park and the iconic Whalebone Arch are all top stopping points, while Whitby Beach beckons for days of sand and sea. Walk along the shore to Sansend Beach, 3 miles away, or hop in the car to seek out rural walks in North York Moors National Park.
This property is hidden down a quiet passageway in town; you’ll walk beneath an arch to arrive at the front door. From the small entranceway, which provides space for coats and boots, stairs lead up to the first floor and the main house. In the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, your eyes will be immediately drawn to the French doors with views of neighbouring red-brick buildings that are characteristic of Whitby. Sofas sit by the French doors, a contemporary kitchen space is set at the back of the area, while a six-seater table separates the two and creates a space for you and your guests to revolve around during the holiday. One bunk bedroom and one bathroom await on this floor. A further two bedrooms and a shower room are set across the second floor – the double bedroom is particularly lovely as you can spot magnificent Whitby Abbey from the window.
The private balcony is an idyllic place to sit on a warm day, with tables and chairs to accommodate the whole group. A parking permit is provided during your stay.
