  • A quintessentially English 17th-century cottage in a picturesque estate village on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park
  • The original features add an abundance of character inside and outside with front and rear gardens
  • Walking opportunities from your doorstep and the village of Osmotherley is within 1.5 miles
Property code: OC-G0172

A warm welcome to this chocolate-box stone cottage dating back to the 17th century. Set within a picture-postcard village on the cusp of the North York Moors National Park, this gorgeous property is reminiscent of the cottage in the Cameron Diaz movie 'The Holiday'. Bursting at the seams with period features and cosy character, you'll want to squirrel yourself away in here for weeks. Some excellent foodie pubs are within walking distance too.

We have fallen head over heels in love with this property, one of the original workman's cottages for the local estate. As soon as you spot the climbing roses around the windows you realise this immaculate stone cottage ticks every box for an idyllic English country cottage escape. Step inside to find traditional comfortable interiors that wrap you in a warm embrace as you walk through the door.

Make your way through the entrance hall to the surprisingly generous sitting room. At the heart of the room is an original stone fireplace home to a wood burner. Light up the fire and snuggle up on the easy chair with a cup of hot chocolate, sheer bliss! There's a TV and a DVD player if you want to catch a movie. Wi-Fi is also available and board games, books and magazines are provided for offline fun.

The galley-style kitchen sits next door and affords lovely views to the mature rear gardens. You'll find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, fridge, oven with ceramic hob and microwave. The cupboards are extremely well stocked with all the utensils and crockery you'll need to rustle up a fantastic meal.

Just around the corner is a further utility area home to a downstairs loo, freezer, washing machine and gorgeous Belfast sink, perfect for washing off muddy boots after a day's walking on the moors. There is also a large larder area to store all your bits and pieces.

The kitchen opens up into the spacious dining room, an incredibly homely room which whisks you back in time. Enjoy a long leisurely breakfast, mulling over the morning papers with the smell of bacon frying in the background, a mug of Yorkshire tea in hand of course! A stereo provides the soundtrack and an open fire lends atmosphere for your evening meal.

Both bedrooms and the family bathroom are upstairs. The master bedroom features a king-size bed to stretch out on and a very sweet twin room with two single beds sits next door. You get a real sense of the history of the cottage in both bedrooms with exposed beams overhead and low-level stone frame windows. You'll find lots of built-in storage in each and both rooms look out towards the pretty village.

The bathroom is at the end of the landing, a good-sized room offering a bath with shower over. Perfect for a long hot soak or quick refresh after exploring the surrounding countryside!

There is much to love outside too. To the front is a large lawned garden which looks out towards the village and beyond. The star of the show is the large mature rear gardens which come complete with apple trees and a good-sized terrace for al fresco dining. A charming little summer house sits at the top of the garden and is the perfect spot for an afternoon glass of Rose.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath (upstairs) and 1 WC on the ground floor
  • Dishwasher, fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine
  • Wood burner in the lounge (first set of logs and kindling provided)
  • Smart TV with DVD
  • Wi-Fi included

  • Ample off-road parking

We had a wonderful short stay at the cottage, was ideal for our adventures in the area. Was lovely and quiet, and loved watching the bunnies in both gardens. We loved the cottage, was so homely and we enjoyed the time we spent their. Would certainly recommend and hopefully get a chance to stay there again.

We had a lovely stay in this cosy cottage. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 dogs. It is so well equipped and very clean. The boot room was a nice addition to have so dogs could be cleaned up before going into the main cottage. We would definitely stay here again.

Another lovely stay in our favourite cottage (our 4th time). Our first time in the winter. Very cosy and warm. Everything you need is in the cottage. Having a back door and utility room is so useful for muddy boots and wet weather gear.
