Discover a beautiful Grade II listed barn conversion set in the heart of a pretty Yorkshire Dales village. With many period features, this lovely property is bursting with charm and character. Dating back to 1791, this historic barn has been transformed into a handsome and comfortable holiday home. It's the perfect mix of old and new, with exposed original beams overhead. This is period living with all the contemporary comforts.

 

Step inside the barn to discover a dramatic double-height open-plan living space. This stunning room is dominated by a striking arched window which reaches almost to the ceiling. A cosy wood burner keeps everything warm and toasty. Arrive to a generous welcome hamper of freshly baked bread and homemade biscuits among other treats.

 

The living area offers the choice of two comfy sofas to snuggle up on. Light the fire and settle down for the night with a glass of wine or two. For your evening entertainment, there's a smart TV is also provided so you can catch up on your favourite movies and box sets. Wi-Fi is another addition and there are board games and books to enjoy. Walking guides are available too so you can plan your routes for the week ahead.

 

Next to the living area within the open-plan space is the start of the kitchen. A long unit here boasts elegant cupboards painted in Farrow and Ball, a sleek granite worktop and a Belfast sink. Coffee lovers will enjoy discovering the coffee machine. This area is perfect for preparing food whilst your loved one keeps you company. Pick up some local produce from the friendly butcher next door, perhaps one of his renowned pies, and rustle up a hearty Yorkshire lunch. The owner will provide you with a complimentary voucher so you can choose what you fancy.

 

The rest of the kitchen is just behind and offers all the usual mod cons including an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, microwave and washing machine. There's also an additional sink in here.

 

The dining table sits by the large arched window and is bathed in light throughout the day. Take your time and enjoy a long leisurely breakfast here whilst mulling over the morning papers. Holidays are made for this! Downstairs is also home to a wet room with a large walk-in shower. This generous room has floor-to-ceiling tiles and a clean, contemporary look.

 

The bedroom is upstairs, set in a mezzanine-style floor. This inviting and peaceful space has a double bed and cosy landing area. There's also a handy en-suite WC up here.

 

Outside to the rear of the barn, guests have access to a small area of an enclosed courtyard, a sheltered space perfect for a spot of al fresco lunch. A patio table and chairs are provided. This courtyard is shared with the owner's property which sits at the rear of the barn. For those of you who enjoy cycling, secure lockable storage is available.

We stayed in Slaters barn which was absolutely perfect. Well equipped & very comfortable Having only visited York before the Yorkshire Dales has stunning views & walks. So much to do & see

Everything about this property is comfortable, clean and of a high standard and we felt instantly at home. Our host Sue is very welcoming and helpful and suggested interesting places to go, eat and do in this beautiful area. We had a lovely week.

A wonderfully well equipped and cosy cottage. Excellent butchers shop next door. Lots of interesting places to visit, and pretty market towns. Strongly recommend a visit to the nearby Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park.

This was a great place to stay- easy access to the Dales with Fountains abbey easy to reach and the Himalayan gardens a few minutes away. Excellent food from the butcher next door, the fish and chip shop does close at 8 and has limited opening times. The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable in a quiet village location. The owners Sue and Charles were very welcoming and helpful. The barn is adjoined to a great family run butchers, which was very handy! A recommendation for a Sunday lunch at the Sawley Arms in the nearby village of Sawley. We would definitely recommend a stay at Slater's BarRead moren for anyone looking for a quiet get away in close proximity to a number of attractions such as Fountains Abbey. Hide

Good value for money. The owners have spent money on the internal decorations and fittings, which are of a very good standard. The location is good to visit many places, we went to York, Grassington, Bingley locks, Saltaire, Fountains Abbey, National Trust properties and walking in the dales.. Acid test, would I book again? YES.

A warm, friendly greeting from the owners of the property was a nice start to our holiday. The property was immaculate, very well presented with everything you could need and more. A loaf, milk and biscuits as well as tea and coffee were all left for us to enjoy. The butchers next door sold lovely home cooked meals, handy to pop in the oven at the Read moreend of your day out. The owners are lovely, everyone we met in the village was friendly, the little shop is really useful and the butchers shop next to the barn is simply the best. Wow, what a location for this beautiful barn. We met Sue on arrival who made us so welcome. The barn is just amazing with everything you need (even cotton wool) The fire place, bathroom with walk in shower and kitchen are excellent features. Nidderdale is an ideal base for getting around north Yorkshire, it's simply breathtaking. Tim the butcher neRead morext door makes the finest scotch eggs and pork pies you'll ever eat!
