An enticing, stone cottage, set on a farm on the outskirts of the market town of Pickering, this delightful holiday home enjoys its privacy. Sleeping two guests, and beautifully finished, it makes a perfect bolthole for couples keen to be within reach of the North York Moors National Park, about 2 miles away. Wander the extensive grounds of the farm on which the cottage is situated, visiting the shire horses and alpacas. Spend time in Pickering, with its castle, museum and Saxon church, with 15th-century wall paintings. Browse the independent shops here and dine out too on occasion. Otherwise you can venture 5 miles out of town to follow a gentle 1-mile walk, taking you round a site where the Romans built fortifications 2,000 years ago.
Enter the cottage from the patio and find yourselves in a spacious, light-filled lounge/diner, with a galleried mezzanine level above and exposed brick and stonework. From here, there are French doors that on warm days you can open and step straight out into the garden. The living space has a TV and Blu-ray DVD player here for evening entertainment or enjoy some relaxing music together via the Sonos streamed music system as well as small dining area and electric flame-effect fire for cosy evenings in. There is also a well-equipped kitchen that includes a coffee machine for you to enjoy a fresh cup in the morning. The stylish shower room, with WC and underfloor heating, is also at this level. Upstairs you’ll find the mezzanine level, which is taken up with a spacious and light double bedroom – ideal for lazy mornings.
Open the door from the bedroom onto the balcony, where there is outside seating for you to enjoy the views. The cottage is situated in the owners’ grounds, but you still have access to your own private garden as patio as well as free use of the shared grounds, where you can meet the farm animals or enjoy long riverside walks.
