Property code: OC-WA245

A gorgeous stone retreat, nestled in scenic countryside close to Glaisdale, 12.5 miles from Whitby, this enticing cottage is perfect for exploring the North York Moors National Park, in which it sits. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom, dog-friendly holiday home has a wood burner for cosy nights in and a garden for soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the views. Pick up the Esk Valley Walk, a route of almost 40 miles that follows the River Esk from its source on the North York Moors to the coast at Whitby. Plan trips to the coast too, where you can walk out along the clifftops from Whitby or spend time on the town’s beach or in the town’s shops and restaurants.

Open the front door and step in to find an inviting, open-plan, beamed lounge/kitchen/diner at ground-floor level. Light the wood burner in here on chilly days and relax together after your energetic walks or cycle rides. Find everything you need in the kitchen area to help you prepare meals with your own ingredients then sit down to tasty meals, before watching TV or listening to the radio. Make your way up the steep, cottage-style stairs to the first floor to indulge in a good night’s sleep in either the double bedroom or the bunk bedroom. The family bathroom is up here too.

Bask in the sunshine of the lawned garden during the spring and summer months. Light the BBQ on warm evenings and dine at the picnic table in tranquillity.

Perfect cottage to use as a base for a couple or a small family to explore this area of Yorkshire. The cottage is perfectly situated and there is a postcard view from every window, we couldn't fault it and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

The description on how to get to the cottage, although accurate, was not very helpful. The tennis court is there but not exactly visible coming from the Whitby direction. Once we got there the cottage was as described except we were told there was no linen and there was. While moving around the bed I got a cobweb caught around my head. Finally therRead moree was only one bath towel provided, not enough for 3 people. Other than that it was a very nice stay in a lovely quiet location. Hide

There werent enough cutlery or tea towels. The cottage was lovely but finding it was extremely difficult. The directions werent clear and we lost internet so couldnt use our google maps. The family that came after us also had the same issue. Clearer directions would be incredibly helpful!! The location was incredible though and the cottage was comfRead morey and cosy. Hide
