Just 1.5 miles from the traditional fishing village of Staithes, this imaginatively updated barn conversion provides a tranquil holiday home for up to six guests. Staithes is known for its narrow, winding cobbled streets, nooks and ginnels, and has some great pubs, cafes, independent shops, art galleries and a fish smokehouse. The village also holds real ale and jazz festivals throughout the year. There are plenty of walks in this spellbinding area, or you can take a boat trip from the harbour to the popular seaside resort of Whitby (11.5 miles) with its long, sandy beach and popular attractions including the Dracula Experience and the 199 Steps leading up the ruins of the old abbey.

Entering the property, the beamed open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides a wonderful living space to relax in at the end of a great day. With a Smart TV and plenty of seating, the lounge is ideal for watching a movie in the evening, or you can gather around the central dining table to enjoy a fantastic family meal. The stylish kitchen has plenty of equipment and useful granite worktops. The ground floor also has the first of the property’s three beautifully furnished bedrooms, all of which have a TV: a delightful double room with an en-suite wet room and a door leading out onto the patio. Heading upstairs, there are two further bedrooms on the first floor: a sweet super-king-size room with an en-suite bathroom, and a relaxing twin room with an en-suite shower room.

Stepping outside, the pretty patio garden has outdoor furniture and makes a lovely spot to dine alfresco. One of a group of properties, this lovely retreat has access to a 4-acre shared paddock and a games room with a three-quarter-size snooker table, table tennis, table football and a selection of books, board games and DVDs. You can also book the Shepherd’s Hut – subject to availability. Set in a south-facing meadow this beautiful timber-framed hut features a king-size bed, seating and TV, and offers glorious views over the woods and valley and towards the sea.

Cottage was lovely easy access for wheel chair especially the down stairs bedroom with wet room. Lounge / Kitchen very well equipped but needs at least one new settee for elderly to sit & rise from. Narrow road from Staithes to cottage beware of on coming traffic as no passing places, great dog walk just over the lane. This property is a little gem, immaculate and very comfortable. We were a family of 5 adults and the rooms were spacious and beds incredibly comfy. The downstairs bedroom and ensuite wet room is perfect for elderley parents. The grounds are incredibly clean and tidy. The field is great for exercising dogs or just having a stroll around. Wonderful location and very very clean. Great games room. However in my opinion the cottage is not suitable for six adults. Only parking for two cars. We were allocated a third due to another cottage not in use. But you Need to be aware of this. Advert states EV charging can be arranged when requested were told no and informed of the nearest locatiRead moreon. Be aware seating in the lounge is very cramped with one person having to sit on a hard seat. TVs were far too small. Be very aware of the low beams. Many of our party banged their heads seeing stars. And if a male you cannot stand to the toilet in the twin room. Also be aware the area to exercise / toilet your dog is across the road which is not lit so poses a real problem late at night or early morning. Hide

We had a very warm welcome by our host and a very helpful tour of the cottage, which was warm and comfortable. Our two rescue greyhounds were also quickly at home. As we were only two , we had lots of room. As one of us is disabled, we were pleased to find that one of the bedrooms (with en suite facilities and a view of the magnificent Stone Pine tRead moreree on the large off-road parking area) is on the ground floor. There were plenty of suitable dog walks nearby and some good village pub/restaurants a short drive away. Hide

Lovely comfortable cottage, really well equipped and spacious. We loved the courtyard garden and dining area. Wonderful walk through the paddock opposite the main house, we saw lots of wildlife including a barn owl on the hunt. Owner is lovely as is Katie who looked after us well. Games room made the odd rainy afternoon much more fun. Loads of greaRead moret places to eat and to walk in the area. Hide

Pets allowed more than pet friendly. Not even allowed to go to toilet in back garden. Shared paddock was not enclosed and no walks nearby. Could not risk walking down "road" as no where to get away from traffic

Fantastic cottage, very clean and had everything you could need. Games room was a good extra. Little bit remote but easy to park in the village and jump on the bus. Would definitely recommend to explore that coast.

We stayed in Oak Cottage and it was ideal for the six of us (and two dogs). The accommodation was spotless, the beds comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped.
