Dating back to the 19th century, this detached riverside stone-built cottage serves as an ideal base for couples or older families to explore Yorkshire’s beauty spots. It’s on the stunning Coast to Coast walking route, 8 miles from the historic seaside town of Whitby, 4 miles from Goathland (also known as the fictional "Aidensfield" on TV’s long-running Heartbeat series) and 2 miles from the North York Moors Heritage Steam Railway at Grosmont. Permits for fishing are available, enabling guests to take full advantage of this tranquil waterside location.
On the ground floor, the living room features a large bay window allowing light to flood in, complemented by a striking wooden beamed ceiling. A separate dining room — also with a wooden beamed ceiling — offers space to share meals together, while vintage armchairs positioned beside the open fire are conducive to some quiet time, or to get lost in a good book. Also on this level is the contemporary kitchen, a king-size bedroom and a bathroom with underfloor heating. A second king-size bedroom is located on the first floor.
The lovingly tended garden wraps around the property, with fruit and blossom trees, shrubbery, rose bushes and spring bulbs. Outdoor furniture placed in a secluded section of the grounds that are bordered on one side by trees, allows guests to enjoy a meal while surrounded by nature.
