Discover Richmond’s independent shops, pubs, galleries and eateries (13.5 miles); it’s one of Britain’s most vibrant and beautiful market towns, and the gateway to Swaledale. Walk along the River Swale, past Richmond Castle to Easby Abbey (15 miles). Watch a traditional blacksmith at work in the Old Working Mill and Smithy at Gunnerside (19 miles). Leyburn (5 miles) is a lovely old town at the heart of Wensleydale, with quirky shops and a Friday market.
Inside the cottage you’ll find cosy rural charm. Gather on sofas in the wide lounge around a flickering wood burner, and watch the TV or a DVD. The feature fireplace reaches right up to the high, wooden-beamed ceiling. Down three steps, you’ll come to the characterful kitchen/diner with wooden beams across the ceiling and a circular table with six seats. There’s a tranquil family bathroom. The double bedroom has a wide-window vista out to the garden, and the twin has its own sweet aspect on the rural landscape. The charming conservatory is a delightful space to relax.
Outside you’ll find access to a delightful, shared garden with your own private patio and garden furniture. The views out over Coverdale will remain with you long after returning home.
