There are several quaint independent shops to wander around and plenty of excellent quality eateries to try the fresh catch of the day. Enjoy the short walk of less than 1 mile to the beach, and head out along the expanse of golden sand, take a dip in the sea or plan a beach picnic. Just 2 miles away climb the famous 199 steps to Whitby Abbey, which inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and enjoy breathtaking views of the town and coast. There are several popular annual events in Whitby, including the Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and Whitby Regatta.
