It’s perfectly placed for sporty guests, history buffs, and nature lovers who enjoy long country hikes, scenic bike trails, and heritage attractions. If you crave a traditional Sunday roast, then stroll over the characterful stone bridge from Newby Wiske to South Otterington village (0.5 miles) to find a welcoming country pub serving home-cooked meals. Or venture towards one of Yorkshire’s handsome market towns and source delicious ingredients to take back to your cosy cottage; you’ll find shops, pubs, and eateries in nearby Northallerton (5 miles), while Thirsk (6.5 miles), and Bedale (10 miles) are also in easy reach. With spectacular views, scenic surroundings, and abundant wildlife throughout the surrounding area of Hambleton, you’ll soon unwind in this beautiful setting.

Step inside this quintessentially English cottage, packed with character and period features and decorated in calm neutral tones. Store coats and shoes in the hallway after your day out and wander through to the living room where you can sink into comfortable seating with a good book and snuggle up to enjoy the warmth of the wood burner. Plan family film nights on the TV, or fun games indoors after a great day of adventures in the North Yorkshire countryside. Family meals are a breeze with the well-equipped kitchen featuring an electric range oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, and a dishwasher. There’s also the convenience of a washing machine and tumble dryer so you’ll have less packing to do before your holiday escape. You’ll find the family bathroom on the ground floor, while sleepy heads can settle into three light and airy bedrooms upstairs: a king-size bedroom, a double bedroom, and a bunk bedroom - ideal for children.

On sunny afternoons, step out from the kitchen to the large enclosed rear garden where children and dogs can bound about while grown-ups cook up a storm on the BBQ. With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
