A perfect bolthole for a small family and a romantic getaway for a couple, this delightful cottage offers cosy accommodation in a beautiful and tranquil part of the North Yorkshire Countryside

This pretty cottage is in an idyllic location in the official gateway to the North York Moors National Park. Located on the main road through Pickering towards pretty Helmsley (13 miles) to the west or Scarborough (18 miles) to the east, you’re in a perfect location to explore the moors and beyond as well as the many shops, pubs and restaurants in the town itself. With plenty of space for up to four people, this property is teeming with period charm and will welcome you in for an unforgettable stay in North Yorkshire.

Step through the front door into the bright and airy lounge, where fresh white tones blended with a fabulous stone fireplace with wood burner and pretty wooden beams make this a cosy haven to relax in after a long day out exploring. Switch on the Smart TV and snuggle up on the sofa watching your favourite films on Netflix. The window seat is the perfect spot for reading your favourite book in the morning while you wait for everyone else to get ready, or get comfortable on a regal-looking armchair for an afternoon snooze. A quaint foldaway dining table in the corner is perfect for two but can be extended to fit four, so you can enjoy sociable family meals together.

Move through to the stylish galley kitchen with trendy tiling, sleek appliances and lovely wood-style worktops; cook up a storm for the whole family, or perhaps nibble on something from your welcome basket. The back door lets in lots of natural light and opens out to the courtyard, which is a real sun trap and therefore ideal for an al fresco evening drink. There’s an exterior utility room out here where you’ll find a washing machine and a basket filled with goodies for your four-legged friend if you brought them, so there’s no need for them to go without a little bit of indulgence too. This utility space is also perfect for locking up your bicycles if you want to explore this lovely town on two wheels.

At bedtime, climb the stairs to the tranquil double bedroom where exposed wooden beams, calming neutral decor and pretty wooden wardrobes promote a peaceful night’s sleep; wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day, heading to the bright bathroom for an invigorating shower. Intricate tiling and good lighting also make this a relaxing space, perfect for enjoying a soak in the bath to soothe aches and pains after long walks.

The final bedroom is a cosy twin, where comforting pale colours blended with pastel furnishings make this ideal for children or two friends sharing. There’s even a TV in here so you can have a lie-in and watch some daytime telly when you want a lazy day. There are varying head heights in this room, so just watch out if you’re tall!

There’s one off-street parking space directly outside the property, and there is plenty of on-street parking on the road if you need to bring another car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
