Tucked away in the rolling green hills of Nidderdale, this property is an outstanding 2-bedroom holiday home with huge amounts of character and charm. The handsome stone exterior gives way to a generous open-plan living space home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. The compact but well-equipped kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up dinner. We love the solid granite worktop which gives the whole area a sense of style and substance. You'll find all the usual mod cons including an oven and ceramic hob, a fridge with ice-box, a microwave and a dishwasher. The dining table sits beside the kitchen and will accommodate four people comfortably. Enjoy a long lazy breakfast over the morning papers whilst you decide which of Yorkshire's attractions you're going to visit that day.

There are 2 bedrooms to choose from in this property, the smaller of which is on the ground floor and is ideal for children. This room boasts two queen size beds which sit side by side resting against an exposed stone wall. There's a TV if you fancy a lazy morning in your pyjamas and also a spacious en-suite shower room.

The stunning master bedroom with incredibly generous proportions is set on the first floor. It has a super king-size bed which can be configured as two singles and includes a huge en-suite shower room. In the corner of the master bedroom is a fabulous free-standing bath where you can sink into the bubbles with a glass of something cold. The views from up here are just stunning: on a clear day you can see all the way to Kilburn.

Outside you'll find a lovely large patio within the grounds complete with patio furniture so you can enjoy dining alfresco. There are plenty of lawned areas of grass in front of the cottage too if you want to throw down a picnic blanket. The cottage is right next door to the owner's farmhouse making this location the perfect retreat, complete with friendly horses and chickens. You can watch horses being shod, sheepdogs being trained and sample some properly free range and freshly laid eggs - a true taste of the countryside!

This cottage enjoys a beautiful location tucked away in the heart of rural Nidderdale. The delightful Hackfall Woods, a favourite of Dame Judy Dench, are approximately a mile from the cottage. Also close by are the fabulous Himalayan Gardens, (approx 1.5 miles) one of Yorkshire's least known outdoor attractions, only open in spring and autumn but certainly not to be missed.

The cottage is set in the rolling green countryside of Nidderdale, just over 7 miles from the ancient City of Ripon (the 3rd smallest city in England). Nidderdale is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering the peace and tranquillity of the Lower Dales countryside with the delights of cosmopolitan Harrogate just over 16 miles away. With miles of stunning walks and mountain bike trails right from the doorstep, the cottage is heaven for lovers of all things outdoors. And for eats you'll find no shortage of excellent gastro pubs and restaurants in the area.

There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the much-loved Brimham Rocks which is just over 10 miles from the property. This collection of dramatic rock formations is known as 'Nature's Natural Playground' and kids will love exploring them!

Fountains Abbey and the adjoining Studley Royal Water Garden are both close by (both just over 7 miles away) and this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country. Also not to missed are Ripley Castle (13 miles), Newby Hall (11 miles) and Jervaulx Abbey (9 miles) all with tearooms in which to relax after strolling round the stunning grounds. There's also Ripon Cathedral, (7.5 miles) which though smaller than its close neighbour York Minster, is still an awe-inspiring sight.

If you are partial to a flutter, you may like to spend the morning on the gallops at Middleham watching racehorses be put through their paces by one of several training yards that are based in the village. Fancy spending the afternoon at a race meeting? there's lots of options nearby. Try Ripon, Thirsk, and glamourous York for flat meetings or Catterick and Wetherby if you prefer the jumps.

Harrogate is an absolute must if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous 'Stray' or '200 acres' of horseshoe shaped grassland, the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

Head just over 10 miles in the opposite direction and you will find Pateley Bridge, a charming little market town very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores and a quality butchers. Everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s - little has changed inside since then.

This property is personally managed by Phil.
