  • A stunning welcoming country cottage retreat
  • Explore, walk or cycle in Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Enjoy a spot of al fresco dining in the garden with BBQ and valley views
Property code: 75642

Stay in this lovely retreat, set in a rural location with views of the valley. Near to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale, this is the perfect base for an active and fun-filled holiday.

This delightful cottage on the outskirts of the pretty village of Dacre Banks is the perfect property for friends to soak up the rural tranquillity, relax into a slower pace of life and enjoy quality time together. Surrounded by the stunning countryside of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the opportunities for walking and/or cycling are almost endless, with a number of formally recognised trails and routes nearby as well as those that are off the beaten track. Despite the idyllic, peaceful location of the property, the village shop and pub are only within a few hundred metres. The property is also ideally located to explore a number of picturesque market towns and villages, which all have something different to offer in terms of shops, eateries, historic interest and views. There are also a number of attractions nearby to suit a range of interests, such as castles, gardens and natural wonders.

This cottage has been lovingly decorated with close attention to detail; it is full of contrasts which work in harmony together to create the feel of a modern stately home. An eclectic mix of bold patterns and colours blend seamlessly with elaborate, statement pieces of furniture which in turn sit comfortably alongside more contemporary pieces with their smooth, clean lines.

Downstairs, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner offers a large space perfect for socialising and relaxing. The well-equipped kitchen is light, bright and airy with seating available around the island and the dining table. Although it’s open plan, the lounge still feels separate, which creates a sense of cosiness. During the day, light floods in through the large window, but of an evening, you can sink into the comfy sofas and warm up in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire.

Upstairs, there are two well-presented bedrooms (one super king-size and one king-size) with their own unique style. Bespoke, designer headboards and interesting furnishings add a touch of glamour and luxury to both rooms. The first bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower; there’s also another shower room. Completing this floor is the snug/cinema room, which offers an alternative place to retire to at the end of a busy day.

Outside, there is a lovely garden where you can sit, have a BBQ and enjoy the views down the valley.

Nearby Pateley Bridge (4.5 miles) is a charming little market town very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s.

Pateley Bridge sits at the heart of the breathtaking Nidderdale landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is immediately adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks (2.5 miles) and the famous Three Peaks. Or check out the cathedral town of Ripon which is also well worth a visit and is just 12 miles away, with its regal castle overlooking the town below. The RHS garden at Harlow Carr (12 miles) is a great place to visit for those that love flowers and plants.

The grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK and is only 11.5 miles away. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly. And the Duchy suburb is well known as being one of the most desirable postcodes in town.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn't your bag there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Betty's tea rooms is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths; rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. If you're travelling with children, Harrogate is famous for its outdoor space with lots of parkland and greenery everywhere. We would also highly recommend a day trip to gorgeous Ilkley (15 miles) combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey, 14 miles away.

Time a visit with the Great Yorkshire Show – it is a massive platform for farmers and local craft-makers to showcase their way of life and their produce on a grand scale. Harrogate is best known for its convention centres and it’s an events hub too, so it’s worth seeing what is on their programme.

York is within easy reach (29.5 miles) and a day trip to this beautiful medieval city is well worth it.

This is the second time I have stayed at the cottages. Both cottages developed and interior designed to a very high standard, but keeping the homely welcome feel. The beds and bed linen the best, which gives you a wonderful nights sleep. And the view! By night wonderland. Lets hope at nearly 80 I can drive up from Sussex again.

Well-appointed and beautifully decorated cottage in a stunning setting. It is so peaceful with a deer who visits most mornings. Hope to stay there again. Be aware when you arrive, there are three dogs that occasionally run loose around the estate.

Absolutely stunning cottage. Wonderfully comfortable and with everything we could need on hand. Gorgeous views and so much to see and do in the area. Highly recommend Brimham Rocks and river at Knaresborough. We really enjoyed meals at the Royal Oak in Dacre and The Pancake House in Pateley Bridge. Would definitely book here again, thank you.

Beautiful cottage well decorated through out , position on hill gave it a lovely out look and very quiet. Though the Red Arrows did a fly pass when we were there. Very handy for Harrogate and for visiting a lot of the south west Dales.
