Escape to this beautiful apartment set on the first floor of a handsome stone building in the small market town of Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway makes the perfect base for a small family or two couples eager to explore this enticing corner of Yorkshire together. Tucked away on the town’s high street, with its abundance of eateries and colourful independent shops selling local produce, it offers exceptional convenience as well as access to picturesque countryside.

From the apartment, head off on a stroll along the scenic River Nidd or follow one of the many footpaths or cycle trails through the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visit some of the picturesque towns and villages of the Yorkshire Dales, where you can pause for a home-cooked meal in a friendly pub and browse in galleries displaying local arts and crafts. The retreat is also well located for Brimham Rocks, 4.5 miles away, and immersive sculpture the Coldstones Cut, 4 miles away.

Make your way into the duplex apartment via a flight of external stairs. Head on through the front door to a bright, stylish kitchen, where you can unpack any shopping and put the kettle on for a cup of tea to enjoy with the freshly baked Yorkshire parkin you have bought in town.

Amble on through to the beautifully furnished lounge/diner, which is filled with natural light thanks to its beautiful bay window. Settle down in here in front of the Smart TV or set the table for a meal together on those occasions you choose to dine in.

Climb the internal staircase up to the second floor to discover your sumptuous bedrooms, a king-size, with an en-suite shower room, and a double. There is also a contemporary-style family shower room up here.

Take your morning coffee out into your private, courtyard garden on sunny summer days. Light the BBQ in the evening here too and sit outside with a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Pateley Bridge itself is a charming little market town, very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up and keep you going during your stay. You’ll also find the self-proclaimed Oldest Sweet Shop in England, dating back to the early 1800s, here.

Pateley Bridge sits at the heart of the breath-taking Nidderdale landscape; this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is immediately adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance, including Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, 11 miles away, and the famous Three Peaks. Visit the cathedral town of Ripon 13 miles away, with its regal castle overlooking the town below. The RHS garden at Harlow Carr, 15.5 miles from the apartment on the fringes of Harrogate, is a fascinating place to explore for an afternoon if you are a plant enthusiast.

Take a spa day or have a massage at the Turkish baths in the cosmopolitan town of Harrogate, 14 miles from Pateley Bridge, timing your visit with the Great Yorkshire Show, where local farmers and craft-makers showcase their way of life and their produce on a grand scale. Harrogate is also known for its antiques and fine art and it’s easy to while away a few hours browsing in the galleries and shops here.

Pros: Great location. Bonus having an EV car charger in the car park. Kitchen and lounge were comfortable and practical. Cons: The property is above a cafe, which occasionally stayed open late. Sadly there is no soundproofing. We could hear conversations, music and chairs scraping from 9am. We could also hear the neighbours talking. The ensuite hasRead more no door or enclosing wall. Very impractical. We often used the other bathroom. Hide
