Cosy romantic cottage in wonderful picturesque surroundings which is perfect for a couples retreat with your own hot tub.

Envelope yourself in luxury and stay in this enchanting Grade II listed property in a sleepy village setting, just 5 miles from the wild and rugged landscape of the North York Moors. Located amongst a row of traditional brick cottages, your charming abode is straight out of a storybook with its climbing ivy and neat country cottage front garden. A bolthole for couples, you’ll be able to embrace your romantic side and fill your days with bracing walks throughout the countryside fuelled by hearty meals and real ale savoured by the fireside of a local, rural pub.

Inside, the interiors are an elegant combination of vintage and contemporary with lovely soft furnishings, country-chic furniture and decor that blends neutral colours with moody tones. Dark-framed artwork provides a contemporary edge, especially when paired with the ambient lighting that casts a warm glow over each room. Leave your boots by the door and unwind on the sofas with a soothing glass of port and a good film, enjoying the toasty warmth that radiates from the electric wood burner in the corner.

Through to the kitchen with its bespoke cabinetry and ingenious storage, where you can rustle up delectable meals with the help of the electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The overarching industrial style is timeless and classic, so it will feel like a treat to climb up onto the stools of the breakfast bar to sip your coffee in peace. Sizzle up a special breakfast and dine a deux, chatting over the morning papers and planning your daily excursions in comfort.

Sunny evenings call for drinks in the garden, a delightful space with a small patch of lawn and a decked area complete with sofa seating and separate table and chairs with a parasol for shaded al fresco delights. Armed with a full glass, immerse yourself in your private hot tub and let the bubbles soothe weary limbs.

Ready to retire for the night, the first floor of the cottage is a sanctuary that reimagines the original space whilst maintaining timeless details such as wooden flooring, sloped ceilings and painted beams. The king-size bed is inviting with monochrome throws and scatter cushions that complement the predominant colour palette. Your washing facilities can be found in the en-suite shower room, a welcome sight after a blustery winter’s walk.

Normanby is a chocolate-box village set in rural splendour close to North Yorkshire’s finest gems such as historic houses, quintessential villages and thriving market towns. Adventures can be found at every turn with scenic walks available from your doorstep, and the majestic Yorkshire coastline is within touring distance (26.5 miles).

On the edge of the North York Moors, the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside (4 miles) has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tea rooms, deli, wine shop and butchers. From here you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market town of Pickering (8.5 miles), which has an abundance of good restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops.

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 10 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, youll also find a fantastic day spa here.

Beyond the town lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, its a place of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and, if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

Cottage is quaint and well decorated but very small with low doorways and steep stairs. Garden is smaller than pictured, looks to have been greatly reduced in size since pics were taken. Otherwise clean, hot tub is lovely, great pub over the road but not sure it was value for money when compared to other cottages we've stayed in.

Very lovely cottage and brilliant location. The hot tub is a luxury but based on other cottages we have stayed at, this was the only luxury. Also, we could not see in description any information about the toilet being downstairs. Had we been aware of this, especially with the very steep stairs, we would not have booked. Local pub food is lovely butRead more be aware, very generous portions. Ate there 3 times. Hide
