This lovely holiday cottage is a stylish two-bedroom, two-storey luxury cottage in Gillamoor, a sleepy little village in the North York Moors. With its large garden and elegant interiors, it is the perfect country retreat for families and couples alike. There is a generous open-plan sitting room and dining area downstairs. Leather armchairs, warm throws and a wood burning stove make it a cosy and relaxing place to curl up in. You'll also find a TV with DVD and Wi-Fi is included throughout the house. There's a host of books and magazines available too if you fancy switching off from the tech and having a bit of a detox.

The dining area sits beside the cottage kitchen and is a really pleasant space to dine in. Relax with your morning coffee and croissant with the Sunday papers spread across the table. The fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave oven, with shared laundry facilities available right next door.

Upstairs you'll find a king-size with an en-suite shower room. Opposite is the second bedroom featuring a single and a double. Both enjoy uninterrupted views of the garden and North York Moors landscape beyond. The family bathroom sits in between the two and has a bath with a shower overhead. Enjoy a soak in the tub after a bracing afternoon's walk across the Moors.

Stepping outside you will encounter a peaceful courtyard to the front of the cottage, but the real star of the show is the large garden to the rear. A generous manicured lawn stretches away to the mature trees at the bottom. It's an idyllic country garden and the perfect spot to enjoy lunch or dinner in the warmer months. Fire up the BBQ and enjoy some grilled treats when the sun is cracking the flags.

This beautiful holiday cottage is found at an enviable location. Sitting at the edge of Gillamoor, an attractive North York Moors village, the local amenities are just a few minutes' walk away. The village is 2.5 miles from the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside and some vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns like Pickering (10 miles) and Helmsley (8 miles); both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tea-rooms and independent shops.

Beyond the village lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, it's a place of gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and is just a few minutes' drive from the cottage. And if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

Helmsley is very much alive as a market town and fresh North Yorkshire produce can be bought from the square. Helmsley has some of the region’s most impressive countryside on its doorstep with rushing rivers, rugged cliffs and sweeping valleys all a short drive away. It has an attractive square and the remains of a medieval castle. For a small town, there’s plenty going on. Helmsley is home to a variety of excellent shops, and even has its own arts centre. One of the prettiest edifices in the area is Rievaulx Abbey (11 miles), a great spot for a pleasant picnic amongst the ruins.

On arrival we were delighted with the welcoming atmosphere at Bothy Cottage. As we unpacked and settled in we realised the owners had gone to great lengths to think of everything they could to make their guests comfortable and relaxed. This included comfy beds, lovely bed linen and towels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

This is a lovely cottage which is very comfortable and well equipped. For us it was important that we could take both dogs and had a large secure garden at the rear of the property. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. We want to return to Bothy Cottage.

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed.
