The remaining bedrooms are set up the grand staircase, complete with a chandelier and dramatic curved wall featuring a scene from the local Fewston Reservoir. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, making sure you pick up something yummy for tea and the several up-market delis in town. Nearby Otley is also a charming Yorkshire town and Chevin Forest Park (7.4 miles) is a great place to blow off some steam.

Venture across to nearby Pateley Bridge (10 miles), a charming little market town very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The Main Street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a fantastic wine shop - everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s - little has changed inside since then.

We had a fabulous weekend at Brass Castle for a family get together for a 70th birthday. The pool table and hot tub were very well used by all.
