In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this country cottage offers a unique getaway. A fantastic base for exploration and a cosy retreat for relaxation, you can spend your days exactly as you please surrounded by unabated natural beauty.

This idyllic two-bedroom stone cottage is set in a peaceful Wensleydale hamlet called Burtersett, with stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales all around it which make it the perfect candidate for your country holiday.

Its interior has a warm and welcoming feel throughout, from the cosy lounge which features an open fire to the comfortable bedrooms. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the countryside beyond and admire the craftsmanship of the original stone flooring. This stone flooring is carried through to the back of the cottage where a wood burning stove provides comfort and warmth to a charming farmhouse-style kitchen. The kitchen comes complete with all the mod cons you would need for the perfect self-catering break including a double oven and hob, a wood burner and storage units for crockery and cutlery. The lounge has ample comfortable seating for the family to keep cosy in front of another wood burner and TV to keep up to date with your favourite TV shows and films.

Upstairs you'll find a lovely master bedroom with an original fireplace and those amazing views again. There is also a single room with trunk bed (comfortably sleeping two). There is also a bathroom on the first floor.

Outside, the grounds include a small courtyard to the rear [shared with the cottage next door] and to the front of the property exquisite open countryside.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage has a fantastic location. Nestling high up on a hillside in Upper Wensleydale the views here are simply stunning. Wensleydale also borders the wild and magnificent dales to the North of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. A great choice for a day trip, if you wish to get away from it all. It's something of a walkers’ paradise with several pleasant walks right from your doorstep. Take the 1-mile stroll to Hawes across an historic stone-flagged path through the meadows or the slightly longer trek over the hills to Lake Semerwater, Yorkshire's largest natural lake.

There are lots of pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the property like Hardraw Force (1.5 miles), Aysgarth Falls (8.5 miles) and Bolton Castle (11.5 miles). Also visit the thriving market town of Hawes (1.5 miles) (home of the now famous Wensleydale cheese) is just a few minutes by car and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg.

This area of the Dales is also particularly renowned for its spectacular wild flower meadows in the spring. People come from all over the world to see the fields come alive with every colour under the rainbow, a unique phenomenon due to the fact the local farmers don't use harmful chemicals on the fields. But every season has its charm, from the lush green summers to the dramatic and beautiful winters. And with no street light pollution for miles around the stars at night are so bright. Burtersett’s location is blessed with lots of choice for places of historical interest, fun family attractions and natural beauty spots to explore and get to know, if you want to get out and about.

Our fifth stay in this beautifully equipped, comfortable cottage. It is so thoughtfully designed to ensure you have a relaxing and rejuvenating time in the dales. Views from the window of red squirrels in the morning, the sheep all day and often a magnificent moon at night.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney.
