A comfortable and cosy Grade II listed stone cottage set in the heart of a pretty Yorkshire Dales Village, called Kirkby Malzeard, this is a firm favourite for romantics and growing families. With its chocolate-box exteriors, elegant country style and fantastic location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming cottage offers an exquisite escape to one of Yorkshire's loveliest locations.

Dating back to the 1700s, this cottage exudes character and warmth with its double frontage and climbing plants either side of the front door. Step inside to discover a cosy welcoming sitting room complete with exposed beams and an original stone fireplace home to a wood-burning stove. Light up the burner and curl up on the fabulous tartan sofa with a good book and a glass of wine, time to unwind.

Settle down to a movie on the TV (subscription channels available) or just have a good old catch up by the fire. A speaker is on hand to provides the background music and a selection of games and books offers traditional entertainment.

Downstairs is also home to the spacious kitchen / dining area. The kitchen features shaker-style units and all the usual mod cons including an induction hob, fridge and dishwasher. A further utility room houses a washer/dryer and freezer. The dining table has a pleasant aspect right by the window so you can look out on village life over lunch.

There are two bedrooms both of which are set upstairs. The first is a beautiful master bedroom offering a king-size French-style bed, exposed beams overhead and further views out towards the village. It's an elegant and peaceful room, just the place to catch up on some well-earned rest. Next door you'll find the second bedroom, a very sweet single room echoing that same country style with its antique drawers and white wood-panelling. The bathroom is also upstairs and comes complete with a bath to sink into each evening, great if you've been hiking across the Dales all day. There's also a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside the cottage you'll discover a pleasant and private walled garden which includes a patio table and chairs. It's the perfect setting for an afternoon while you decide what's for dinner tonight. Set beside the village church so you can keep the time according it bells every hour through the day. Please note that there is only accommodation space only for a maximum of three guests at the cottage including infants.

The property has a beautiful location right in the heart of Kirkby Malzeard, one of the Yorkshire Dales' prettiest villages with its stone cottages and handsome church. There are handy amenities just a stone's throw away including a village shop, butchers and antique merchant.

The village is set in the rolling green countryside of Nidderdale, close to the ancient city of Ripon (6.5 miles). It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering the peace and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales countryside with the delights of cosmopolitan Harrogate less than half an hour away. With miles of stunning walks and mountain bike trails literally from the doorstep, the cottage is heaven for lovers of all things outdoors. And for eats you'll find no shortage of excellent gastro pubs and restaurants in the area. Nearby Ripon offers more options for eats as well as boasting a Thursday market, cathedral, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle, Newby Hall and Norton Conyers. And of course, the world-famous Fountains Abbey and the adjoining Studley Royal Water Garden (5 miles) are both close by. Only 3 miles west of Ripon, this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country. There's also Ripon Cathedral, smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, the edifice is still an awe inspiring site. In addition, every night for at least 450 years, the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9.00pm from all 4 sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15 minutes history of the ceremony and the city is not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. There are bags of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the much-loved Brimham Rocks (10 miles), just a few miles from the cottage. At this property you will discover that you’ll never be short of options for day trips!

What a lovely clean and cozy cottage in a friendly quiet village. Perfect base for us to explore all the local attractions. The outside courtyard is a sun trap and really private. Bed very comfortable, kitchen well equipped, living room warm and snug. 2 local shops that are family run and excellent. Pub full of friendly locals.

A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. We only scratched the surface of things to do, and if we go back, would very happily stay at Churchby again.

A small but well equipped cottage in a quiet village. The cottage has all you need for a short stay and is a decent base from which to explore Nidderdale and the surrounding areas including the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The stairs up to the first floor are very steep and will not suit anyone with mobility issues. Other than that, the cottage iRead mores what is says it is. The local pub is in need of a refresh and is more of a sports bar - not a country pub like others in the area. Hide

Lovely little cottage. Be aware the stairs are steep due to the age of the property but not an issue so long as you are reasonable steady on your feet. Great location and helpful owner, who was happy to make suggestions about things to do in the area.

This is a 5* holiday cottage: an original building in a street of similarly ancient properties by the village church, generously well-equipped and stylishly decorated. Log burner much appreciated during a very cold spring week! A peaceful hideout within easy reach of local sights and walks. Highly recommended.
