Traditional brick cottage sleeping 4 guests comfortably, located in the lovely village of Fangfoss in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, situated just eleven miles from the historic city of York.

Situated in the delightful village of Fangfoss in the Yorkshire Wolds, this traditional brick cottage is ideal for friends or families who want to explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and the many attractive towns/villages nearby. With a village pub and a play area only a few hundred metres away, this property’s location will be popular with kids and adults alike. Although it’s a small community, every September the village of Fangfoss plays host to Fangfest, celebrating local craftspeople and their traditional crafts. Often overlooked in favour of the nearby National Parks, The Wolds are just as beautiful and are definitely worth exploring. The chalk landscapes, dry valleys, varied wildlife and bustling market towns mean there is plenty on offer for everyone and The Yorkshire Wolds Way is part of the National Trail network. The Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also within 10 miles and offers yet more walking and cycling opportunities. The ancient, walled city of York is only 12 miles away and has lots of attractions to discover. If you venture a little further, you will come across Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (37 miles) and it’s worth the drive for a small taste of the rugged Yorkshire coast.

One of five converted properties, this lovingly renovated former dairy has many original features which add character and quirkiness. Exposed wooden beams peep through in unusual places and the porthole window in the twin room has bespoke, handcrafted shutters. Classic furniture adds to the country-cottage style that is evident throughout.

The spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner feels even bigger with the vaulted, white ceilings. The well-equipped kitchen allows you to cater for everyone with ease, whilst the lounge has comfy sofas to sink into at the end of a busy day.

Also on the ground floor are the delightful bedrooms. There is one king-size with a TV/DVD player and a stunning en-suite bathroom, and one twin (can be made up as super king-size on request) with a TV/DVD player and an en-suite shower room.

Outside, there is a small courtyard with dining furniture. There is also a shared indoor barn which is set up as a games room with snooker, air hockey, table football and table tennis. Bikes are available to hire directly from the owner.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York (12 miles) is one of the best short break destinations in England and is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. Middle Ages' town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys tea room whilst you're there.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens and next to the River Ouse, and slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

And what's more, it really is a year-round location. Summer days can be spent lounging in one of the gorgeous parks and in the autumn, York comes alive with shop windows sparkling in the dusky light. Its central location also makes a great base from which to explore the rest of glorious Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coastline all within easy reach for beautiful walks and adventurous days out.

If walking or cycling is your thing, there are lots of beautiful paths and routes in the area. If you fancy serious hiking, the North York Moors landscape offers some of the best trails in the country. Take a trip up to the top of the high moorlands around Blakey Ridge (35 miles) and breathe in that clear Yorkshire air.

Head 14.5 miles north to find Malton, another gorgeous market town offering lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to indulge in, or the charming market town of Beverley with its winding streets and stunning Minster is a great option at 12.5 miles away. The beautiful market town of Helmsley (29 miles) is well worth a visit and is considered a haven for foodies.

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
