An idyllic rural retreat for a solo adventurer or a couple, this delightful property oozes tranquillity and boasts direct access to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

This gorgeous little cottage in the pretty village of Sleights, just minutes from Whitby and the beautiful Yorkshire Coast. With its cosy wood-burning stove, luxurious open-plan layout and a view that takes your breath away, we think it's the perfect honeymoon hideaway! An idyllic setting for couples looking for a truly romantic holiday cottage on the Yorkshire Coast.

Accessed from the outside by a few steps between paths and set on the lower ground level of the property, Cowslip Retreat feels like a deluxe studio apartment. Great care and attention has been given to the design and colour scheme used, giving this cottage a calm and peaceful ambience. If you haven't had a chance to make it to the shops yet the goodies on arrival and the honesty bar are a welcome sight.

Perfect for couples, the open plan design feels spacious and cosy at the same time, with a generous sitting room, dining and kitchen area leading onto a wonderfully romantic bedroom - just perfect for a lazy breakfast in bed... For your entertainment there's a TV with wireless speakers and an iPad available for guest's use. The king-size bed boasts a comfy pocket-sprung mattress and is dressed in the finest Egyptian-style cotton bed linen.

The bathroom includes a large bath and separate walk-in power-shower. You'll find complimentary toiletries as well as fluffy big bath-sheets to snuggle up in. There is also a very handy laundry room which doubles as a storage space too. You'll even find some wellies to borrow in here if you want to strike out for a walk across the North York Moors. It's the little extras like this and the devoted attention to detail which makes this romantic Yorkshire Coast cottage such a delight.

French doors open onto a private stone patio with stunning views of the Eskdale Valley below. Throw open the doors and watch the steam trains of the North York Moors Railway chug along far below you from the comfort of your bed! And if you ever tire of the view (which we seriously doubt!) this romantic cottage on the Yorkshire Coast has plenty of other distractions. Contemporary entertainment is provided in the form of a TV, an iPod dock, ceiling surround sound and a library of books, CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs.

Outside you will encounter a beautiful stone patio and garden with patio furniture and a built-in BBQ. Pour yourself a cup of Yorkshire tea, settle down with a big slice of cake whilst enjoying the exquisite view!

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

The location here is amazing. Perched on the hillside of the beautiful Esk Valley in the village of Sleights, you can be hopping on a steam train at Grosmont or feeling the sand between your toes on Whitby's beach within minutes.

Sleights itself is a peaceful little place with a scattering of shops and places to eat. Just along the road from the cottage you'll find a traditional and welcoming village pub with cask ales, hearty local food and a log fire to keep you warm and toasty in the colder months. And if you decide to eat in you can pick up some excellent local produce from the artisan butcher and delicatessen in the village. If you are enjoying this luxury cottage near Whitby with the kids there is also a park a short walk away.

A few miles east from the cottage takes you to the stunning North Yorkshire coastline, a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

Although you could happily spend the weekend mooching about the independent shops, bars and cafes along Whitby's bustling medieval streets, it's well worth striking out to sample some of the other coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood's Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all within easy driving distance, each with their own unique charm.

The cowslip Retreat was significantly smaller than we thought it would be for us really and probably a tad too expensive for its size.

This cottage was beautiful, in a wonderful setting, and really helpful owner. However we had a family staying in accommodation above - unfortunately very noisy in morning and evening, did detract from our otherwise perfect stay.
