This holiday home is in a great location set at the Northern Tip of the Yorkshire Dales. Surrounded by the picturesque and peaceful village of Melsonby, it's a lovely little spot for a holiday. Nestled around a cobbled courtyard looking out over the village green, it’s 17 miles across to Reeth, 12 into the stunning landscapes of Swaledale or 22 miles to scenic Arkengarthdale, and 50 miles down the A1 to the city of York, so makes an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. It’s well-placed for discovering the beauty of the North Pennines and visiting a range of quaint villages and bustling Yorkshire towns.

There's a good pub in the centre of the village and if you're a bit of a foodie there are several excellent dining pubs in the area and an award-winning deli. If you feel like a little pampering, there’s a spa in the centre of Melsonby that you could stop by.

It's also the perfect location if you enjoy exploring on two feet. There are lots of beautiful routes nearby and Gilling West (2 miles) is well-known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned ramblers come from miles around to set off from the village.

The cottage is 6 miles away from Richmond, a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. A drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales (20 miles). Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes (30 miles) in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside. Stop at a delightful tearoom or pub for lunch before heading back to the comfort of your large luxury Yorkshire cottage.

West of this property is the charming town of Barnard Castle (14 miles). Recently listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK, it's a pretty little spot with a host of shops, cafes and pubs to explore. The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is well worth a visit if you enjoy art, fashion and design. And as the name would suggest, there's a historic castle to explore too.

Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton (20 miles) where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street and, in the centre, there are delis, restaurants, boutiques and a department store.
