Beautiful inside and out with an idyllic cottage garden, this exquisite property offers that quintessential English country escape. With lots of great attractions nearby as well as some of the best gastro pubs in Yorkshire, we think this luxury holiday home is pretty much perfect!

This cottage is a warm and welcoming holiday escape for anyone and everyone. From the moment you walk through the door you can tell this is a home which is dearly loved. Its understated elegance gives it a luxurious yet cosy appeal with lots of original period features lending bags of character. Little touches like fresh flowers and a generous welcome hamper make you feel immediately at home.

At the heart of the house is the charming lounge complete with a wood burner sitting under a large Yorkshire stone plinth. Light up the fire and take your pick of the cosy sofas by the window. Pop open a bottle of something good, snuggle down and have a good old catch up. If you feel like some entertainment there's a TV and a DVD player. Wi-Fi is also included, beyond this room you also have a laundry room fully equipped with a washing machine, hand basin, WC and additional shower.

Next door you'll find the kitchen leading to the dining room. The kitchen boasts a period quarry-tiled floor and comes well-equipped with all the utensils and equipment you'll need to rustle up something delicious. You'll find a ceramic hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge with ice box and a microwave. Pop along to the excellent butchers at Masham (4.5 miles) for some top-quality local produce including their famous sausages for a hearty Yorkshire breakfast.

Mosey over into the dining room. This gorgeous space features an original black range fireplace and Yorkshire flagstone floors underfoot. Settle down to eat at the rustic table, made for those long lazy holiday lunches.

Both bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs. The master bedroom affords views to the front and rear with double aspect windows letting in lots of light. There's a super-king-size bed to relax on while you indulge in morning telly. The second bedroom is a very sweet single room with a full-size single bed.

Both bedrooms have access to a Jack and Jill bathroom. There's a walk-in shower and several Edwardian features and fittings giving it a sumptuous, traditional feel. Soft fluffy bathrobes are provided as well as complimentary toiletries.

Let's explore outside the cottage. To the rear there's a pretty courtyard, a wisteria-covered old stone barn and a mature cottage garden with uninterrupted views of the Wensleydale countryside. Patio furniture is provided for dining alfresco and the lawn is just calling out for a picnic blanket and bottle of fizz. A charcoal BBQ is also provided for those balmy summer evenings. Sheer bliss.

We think this place is just the most perfect picture-postcard Wensleydale holiday cottage, but why don't you come see for yourself?

This delightful property is set just over 2 miles from Thornton Watlass, a sleepy and pretty little village on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are some lovely walks right from the door.

Thornton Watlass is set around a large village green where, during the Theakston Nidderdale League cricket season, you can go watch teams play and there's a nice village pub which has served as a filming location for TV and films including the BBCs 'All Creatures Great & Small', ITV's 'Heartbeat' and 'Wuthering Heights'.

Nearby you'll find Masham (4.5 miles), a thriving market town where handsome old Georgian buildings gather politely around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England famous for its sheep sale which once hosted as many as 70,000 sheep, although numbers no longer reach that high. The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September each year and commemorates these times past. There are lots of delights to discover in the town including a fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several independent butchers. If you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries, while a nine-hole golf course awaits for those who enjoy a few rounds.

Heading over the high ground of Nidderdale and down into Pateley Bridge (18 miles), a very popular, bustling market town or take a trip to the cathedral city of Ripon (20 miles) with its vibrant Thursday market. You could also visit the wonderful Jervaulx Abbey, only 3 miles away.

Take the 7-mile drive over to Middleham, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once the childhood home of Richard III), it's also known as the 'Newmarket of the North'. To top it off, there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Or how about a morning visiting the charming market town of Leyburn? This town is only 7 miles away and is an archetypical slice of Dales country life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to Tennants Auctioneers, the biggest auction centre outside of London, a great visit if you fancy picking up a bargain. Discover its newly opened cafe and restaurant serving excellent food, along with its gift shop and galleries.

The nearby historic town of Richmond (12 miles) is similar in many ways and is in a lovely setting along the River Swale. Highlights include Richmond Castle, the historic Georgian Theatre Royal and The Station (a lovely old building housing a cinema, art gallery and brewery).

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of this holiday cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both less than 15 miles away while the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within 20 miles driving distance, so there’s lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. There are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country and when you need to refuel, stop at one of the areas many excellent gastro pubs.

Perfect haven away from the craziness of life. The cottage was beautiful and really well equipped. Our only issue was that we didn't sleep so well as the bed felt small. The room could have coped with a king size bed and would have finished the luxury feel.
