Stone cottage boasting country-chic interiors, set within a picture-postcard location in the Yorkshire countryside, ideally situated to explore the North York Moors and the delightful rugged coastline.

Looking out onto a beautiful moors' village, this property is a gorgeous stone-built cottage housing accommodation over three floors. With its country-chic interiors, picture-postcard location and views of the North York Moors beyond the garden fence, it's an idyllic country retreat for couples and young families alike.

The interior of this holiday home is classic country, with all of the contemporary comforts thrown in. The character of the building has been preserved with exposed stonework, ceiling beams and aged timber/stone floors featured throughout.

Downstairs in this North York Moors cottage you'll find a cosy lounge with a wood burning stove and TV alongside a stunning farmhouse kitchen complete with Belfast sink, butcher's block, and flagstone flooring. Patio doors lead out to the garden giving the kitchen a sense of space and light. It also allows you to enjoy the views of the North York Moors over breakfast at your kitchen table.

There is a central hallway in the cottage with winding stairs leading up to the family bathroom and bedrooms above. There is also a convenient cloakroom down here. Parents should note there is a section of open staircase from the hallway up to the first floor, so we ask you take extra care with children

The family bathroom has a lovely roll-top bath, perfect to sink into each evening and there is a separate stand-in shower. It has a bright, fresh look - just what you want in a country cottage bathroom.

The first of the bedrooms is a very sweet twin room with a white and blue theme. There is also ample room in here for a travel cot and this can be supplied if required. The master bedroom occupies the top floor. A lovely cosy room with seagrass flooring, a huge antique iron bed, luxury bed linen and exposed brickwork. A gorgeous room to retreat to after a busy day exploring.

To the rear of this luxury cottage there is a pretty patio area and lawned garden, a lovely spot for al fresco dining in the summer months with plenty of room for little ones to run around too.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

  • 1 double bedroom with additional single bed and 1 twin bedroom
  • 1 family bathroom located on the first floor with bath, separate shower and WC
  • Oven, hob, microwave, Belfast sink
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Wi-Fi included wood burner - first basket of logs provided
  • Pub within half a mile, shop within 1 mile
  • 2 dogs welcome
  • LCD TV, MP3 docking station
  • Enclosed garden with seating area
  • Children welcome but please be aware there is a section of open staircase from the hallway to the first floor so please take extra care with children
  • Roadside parking available in front of the cottage and additional off road parking in the rear of the pub car park

This countryside retreat is situated, in our opinion, in one of the prettiest villages in the North York Moors.

The village boasts several pubs and there are several more fantastic restaurants and gastropubs within the local area. Egton village is famous for the annual gooseberry show every August, thought to be the oldest of its kind in England.

This area of the Moors is particularly blessed with countless pretty towns and villages you could explore, with the added advantage of having the Yorkshire Coast and Whitby just under 7 miles away.

Local attractions include the steam trains of the North York Moors Railway at Grosmont (2 miles), the stunning beaches at Sandsend (7 miles) and Whitby, and the amazing Moors landscape all around.

This property is personally managed by Phil.

Beautiful bathroom and well-equipped kitchen along with cosy lounge and bedrooms. Soft fluffy monogrammed towels and lots of little extra Christmas touches made for a very comfortable stay even though it was winter. Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi Peter,Thank you for taking the time to send in your review, it is much appreciated. We agree Egton has some wonderful walks and how fabulous you were there for the WW2 Weekend, taking you back through time and an insight to how times used to be. The owner of The Witching Post and The Wheatsheaf will be delighted to have got a mention and its a great recommendation for future guests. The owner has now repaired the bed in the Attic Bedroom , it was simply two slats which had been worked loose, but all good now. The bed is a large cast iron king size which beautifully complements the age and style of the cottage.Yorkshire is a wonderful and beautiful county and we do hope you come back again soon.Take careMarion Hide

Excellent cottage and location.Minor criticisms are poor lighting in the kitchen and a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival would have been appreciated.

I am delighted you found the beds comfortable and that you would return and stay in the cottage again. The owner does have plans to change the settee in the lounge early next year. Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings, located right opposite to gastropub. Rather small and low (we are quite tall people), but ok for family with two small children. hardly any wardrobe storage space, which was slightly inconvenient. very nice kitchen and bathroom, good beds, low ceiling in the master bedroom in the attic.

Very enjoyable stay overall. A couple of suggestions would be an outdoor umbrella (we were very lucky with the weather); a shaver point in the bathroom or cloakroom; crockery and cutlery quantities were fine for 2 people but when we were 4 they were a bit sparse; garlic press would be nice; the room scenting sticks are a disaster for asthmatics.

Really loved this cottage. Beautiful views, clean, well equipped and great location. Two lovely pubs on your doorstep, close to Whitby and Steam Railway. A wonderful cottage enjoyed by all.

This was our second visit to Egton Cottage. The village and local amenities are just as good, great pub opposite and shops in Whitby a short drive away. The location is very good, easy access to the North Yorks Moors and the coast. For dog owners there are not really great walks straight from the house but a short drive gives to access to plentyRead more. The cottage is done generally to a pretty high standard but for us the king bed and mattress could do with updating and the settee is somewhat uncomfortable. The west facing back garden is both sheltered and secluded and is lovely to sit in when the sun is shining. Plenty of bird life if you keep the feeders topped up. We didn't find walking over the grass to the front door an issue but we had good weather. In the rain it could be a nuisance and not sure what the issue is or if the owners could put in a path. Hide

A lovely, cosy cottage for a couple. However for a family of four it was a bit compact. Also it rained a lot but we were not permitted to use the paths leading from the road as they belong to the neighbours. As a result we had very wet shoes. The area is very peaceful and picturesque but too remote for a young family.
