Homely cottage nestled on the banks of the River Skirfare in the gorgeous dale of Littondale, offering spacious accommodation to be enjoyed by families looking to bask in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Welcome to this beautiful stone-built property nestling on the banks of the River Skirfare in gorgeous Littondale. Dating back to the 1700s, this fabulous two-bedroom property offers spacious and elegant accommodation and is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Yorkshire Dales. Set in the heart of the National Park, it's heaven for walkers and cyclists with stunning routes in every direction. There's an excellent foodie pub and for those who just want to sit back and enjoy the view, almost every room in the house offers a spectacular vista.

This is one of those unique holiday cottages that offer something incredibly special; that elusive combination of a chocolate-box exterior, charming rooms and a picture-perfect location - and all of it presented immaculately. Driving down the Dale you'll find this handsome cottage set right by the river, a really magical setting that sets the tone for your stay.

Inside the property has been designed to maximise the glorious views of the Dales with the large and welcoming sitting room set on the first floor. This fine-looking room boasts a roaring open fire within an impressive stone fireplace and chimney, exposed stone walls and king trusses dating back to the 18th century. Gathered around the fire is comfy seating, perfect for curling up on each evening. There's a TV and DVD player in here if you want to bring along some family favourites, and Wi-Fi is also provided. The mullioned window and window seat in here afford the most fabulous views of the surrounding fells and river.

The farmhouse kitchen and dining hall are on the ground floor. In the sturdy and traditional kitchen, you'll find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, oven and hob. There's also a wine-cooler to keep your bottles at the perfect drinking temperature. A separate utility houses a large fridge/freezer, microwave and door to the garden patio. A handsome farmhouse table sits in the centre of the dining space, a lovely spot for dining whatever the time of day.

There are two delightful bedrooms in this pretty holiday cottage, the first of which is a sumptuous master suite set on the ground floor. Split over two levels this large and elegant room offers a separate sitting area with gorgeous views from the large picture windows. A king-size bed sits at the heart of the main bedroom space and exposed walls and trusses give the room lots of character. The family shower room is on ground level and offers underfloor heating with a double shower.

The second bedroom is a very sweet twin room on the first floor, again boasting those original exposed beams overhead. A further single bed  is set on the mezzanine level in this room so it will sleep up to three people. This room also has the advantage of access to its own shower room and WC on this floor.

Outside, the setting is hard to beat and the lovely lawned gardens and terraced areas take full advantage of the surrounding views. Settle down with a glass of fizz by the river and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. And for those warm summer evenings, patio furniture and a charming old stone BBQ is provided right by the river, so you can enjoy them long into the night.

This holiday home welcomes babies under 12 months  and children over the age of 10 only.  Please note there is no bath at the property.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

From the cottage you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding countryside stretching all the way to Pen-y-Ghent. And of course as you would expect the surrounding countryside here is simply paradise for walkers and cyclists, perfect if you want to just strike out from the cottage without having to jump in the car.

The picture-postcard villages of Kettlewell (8 miles), Arncliffe (3 miles) and Grassington (11 miles) are within easy reach and all well worth a visit. A 12-mile drive will take you to the vibrant market town of Settle, home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday, the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to that night’s dinner. In town you can also hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK, which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct.

The historic town of Skipton is 18 miles away and offers a host of attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options here for dining as well as independent shops, making it a great option for a full day out.

It's a true walker's dream here and you are very close to the famous Three Peaks. If you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (19 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

A really lovely location for a lovely property (don't miss the cakes a neighbour on the road sells from their front garden). If you're going to stomp about this bit of the countryside this is a great base. Traditional charm, all mod cons and a genuine sense of being in a charming place. It felt like a treat. Cottage sized (inc parking) but not smalRead morel, it was plenty of room for our family of 2 adults and 2 hulking great teenagers. Hide
