Situated in the pretty village of Fangfoss in the Yorkshire Wolds, this charming converted stable is perfect for friends/families who want to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the many picturesque towns/villages. With a village pub and a play area only a few hundred metres away, kids and adults alike will be content with the property’s location. The village of Fangfoss is a small community, but every September they play host to Fangfest, which celebrates local craftspeople and their traditional crafts. The Wolds are often overlooked in favour of the National Parks, but they are just as beautiful and definitely worth exploring. The chalk landscapes, dry valleys, varied wildlife and bustling market towns mean there is plenty on offer for everyone. The Yorkshire Wolds Way is part of the National Trail network and also within 10 miles is the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers yet more walking and cycling opportunities. The ancient, walled city of York is only 12 miles away and has lots of attractions to discover. Further afield, but worth the drive, is Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (37 miles) for a taste of the rugged Yorkshire coast. Please note: If you are part of a big group, you can rent this property alongside The Barn - York to sleep 12 guests in total.

One of five converted cottages on this site, this property probably has the most character. Wood is the star of the show here with its versatility being showcased throughout the property. With exposed beams, classic furniture, bespoke doors and a stunning feature staircase, there is wood everywhere, with its rich tones and interesting shapes and textures adding plenty of personality.

The stunning living area consists of a lounge and kitchen/diner. The lounge has an electric stove with flame effect to snuggle up in front of, whilst the well-equipped kitchen has a large range oven and seating for up to 12 guests. Leading off the kitchen is the unique main bedroom with its simple four-poster, king-size bed, free-standing bath and a more private en-suite shower and WC.

Up the magnificent staircase, you will find yet another spacious king-size bedroom with a free-standing bath and a twin room (which can be made up as a super king-size on request), both with en-suite shower rooms and WCs.

Outside, there is a small courtyard for al fresco dining. For the competitive or restless guests amongst you, there is a shared indoor barn which is set up as a games room with snooker, air hockey, table football and table tennis.

  • 2 king-size bedrooms and 1 twin zip and link (can be made into a king upon request)
  • 2 bedrooms with free-standing baths 3 en-suite shower rooms with shower and WC

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York (12 miles) is one of the best short break destinations in England and is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. Middle Ages' town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys tea room whilst you're there.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens and next to the River Ouse, and slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

And what's more, it really is a year-round location. Summer days can be spent lounging in one of the gorgeous parks and in the autumn, York comes alive with shop windows sparkling in the dusky light. Its central location also makes a great base from which to explore the rest of glorious Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coastline all within easy reach for beautiful walks and adventurous days out.

If walking or cycling is your thing, there are lots of beautiful paths and routes in the area. If you fancy serious hiking, the North York Moors landscape offers some of the best trails in the country. Take a trip up to the top of the high moorlands around Blakey Ridge (35 miles) and breathe in that clear Yorkshire air.

Head 14.5 miles north to find Malton, another gorgeous market town offering lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to indulge in, or the charming market town of Beverley with its winding streets and stunning Minster is a great option at 12.5 miles away. The beautiful market town of Helmsley (29 miles) is well worth a visit and is considered a haven for foodies."

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed. The hosts were quick to deal with queries and issues arising. Safe, gated grounds with allocated parking and a games room to use too. Great location for York and exploring the surrounding area. Peaceful and relaxing.
