A gorgeous cottage in the bustling market town of Richmond boasting unspoiled views across to Richmond Castle and stunning interiors throughout, perfect for guests looking for a scenic getaway.

See inside this gorgeous two-bedroom luxury holiday cottage in historic Richmond with breathtaking views across to Richmond Castle. With its classic stone exterior, stunning interiors akin to a five-star hotel and very pretty garden, this cottage is pretty much holiday heaven and perfect for couples and families with lots of family-friendly extras.

This property sits looking out directly across the fields and the River Swale to Richmond Castle – it has got to be the best view in town. Make your way up the stone steps and in via a lovely sage green stable door. The first thing you'll notice is how roomy it feels, it's perfectly proportioned for a luxury two-bedroom cottage.

Let's start with the sumptuous sitting room. A lavish celebration of purple velvet and elegant stripes combine to create a space which is both luxurious and comfortable. There's a cosy wood burner ready to warm your toes on colder evenings and a lush carpet underfoot. For your entertainment, there's a TV, Blu-ray player, Blu-ray DVDs and a Blue-tooth MP3 player. There's a box of toys for younger children and Wi-Fi is provided too.

Across the hallway and into the kitchen/dining room you'll find a very sweet cottage kitchen awaits complete with mod cons that include; a fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher, double oven and microwave. It's stocked with cookware if you enjoy a spot of cooking on holiday and if you have young children with you there is children's crockery, plastic cups and a high chair provided. The dining table comfortably seats four and has a great view towards the castle.

Both bedrooms in are upstairs. The first is a stunning master bedroom which boasts a super king-size bed while exposed beams and a double height ceiling emphasis the space in this room, and with hairdryers provided in the drawers it really does feel like you've stepped into a luxury hotel. There's also a TV and Blu-ray player in here. And with an amazing view of the castle across the fields, you just won't want to get out of bed. A great night's sleep is also available for the youngest guests as a travel cot can be provided.

The second bedroom features a beautiful king-size bed. You'll love the elegant bespoke headboard and lovely views from this room. It also has its own TV, perfect for catching up with the news each morning or settling down to a lazy movie in bed. Furthermore, there's a Sony PlayStation 3 with plenty of games to keep the older children (or adults!) amused.

The family bathroom is upstairs at the end of the landing. There's a shower in here, the perfect place for a long hot soak each night. Complimentary toiletries are provided for you too.

To the rear of the cottage is a very pleasant, enclosed garden which includes garden furniture and a BBQ for those balmy summer evenings. To the front a bench sits looking out towards that priceless view of the castle, a lovely spot for your morning coffee and the best seat in the house for the annual fireworks display at Richmond Castle every November.

This property requires a security deposit. There is parking available directly in front of the cottage, and on the other side of the road.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

This luxury cottage is set on the outskirts of the charming and historic market town of Richmond. Richmond boasts an 11th century castle, fine Georgian architecture and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Walk into the town centre if you fancy striking out on foot for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there. There are also some great restaurants and plenty of little shops to keep you busy for an afternoon.

The cottage is just a few hundred metres from the gorgeous River Swale and across the river, less than a mile, are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can set off from the door and walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. There's also a decent pub serving food less than a mile away.

We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which is less than a mile’s walk from the cottage along the river. It has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Bordering Swaledale and Wensleydale, Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so you can expect stunning Dales scenery just a few miles away. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you have little ones to entertain, how about a trip to the mystical Forbidden Corner near Middleham (13 miles).

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just 2 miles from the cottage. Set on the River Swale, the Abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historical sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey (25 miles) and Studley Royal (25 miles).

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by.

This is probably the best we have stayed in. The owner has made every effort to ensure that he has thought of everything, even the knives in the kitchen were sharp - unheard of in a holiday cottage! Ideal location, fabulous view, well-equipped, warm, clean, comfortable. And the bonus was that while the rest of the country was gripped by rain and wiRead morend we had sun every day so made some great walks. Hide

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must.
