Source delicious produce and gifts in the market square, surrounded by artisan shops and tempting delis, tearooms and good pub food. Discover Helmsley Castle and its neighbouring walled garden; you may recognise the setting from the recent film adaptation of The Secret Garden. On the outskirts of town, you’ll find the National Centre for Birds of Prey in Duncombe Park. You could almost spend your entire holiday around Helmsley – there is so much to see and do here. Your holiday home is ideal for a couple or family who loves historic market towns with leisure amenities, family-friendly attractions, and a range of local walks and wildlife trails to explore.

Catch up on your favourite Yorkshire TV and film moments on the Smart TV – you may recognise scenes from costume dramas and the Harry Potter series. Cook up storm in the well-equipped kitchen, which boasts an electric oven and hob, fridge with an icebox, and convenient dishwasher, plus a washing machine to lighten the load of your holiday packing. Take a peek in your welcome pack too – you may find ingredients to add to your home-cooked meals. Gather around the breakfast bar and tuck into your delicious feast as you catch up on the day. When sleepy heads nod, amble upstairs to find two dreamy bedrooms with ample storage space for luggage and shopping: a king-size bedroom, and a small double bedroom – ideal for children. There’s a stylish family bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath, and WC; plus a separate ground floor WC. A very warm welcome from Clare on arrival. She had already answered an email query about what would be open locally as we emerged from lockdown with lots of helpful advice. The cottage is in a great location only a few minutes walk from the town square, the castle and the walled garden. Inside the cottage was really clean and well equipped. The bedRead mores have very comfortable mattresses! Hide

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
