The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a fantastic wine shop - everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s.

On the whole our honeymoon stay was lovely. Folly Rigg is a beautiful cottage and has many quality fixtures and fittings. The welcome hamper was a lovely thought and so were the flowers. The bed is very comfortable. We still would have preferred to have met Gemma (the owner) in person to thank her fRead moreace to face, but we only had contact via text which was a shame. We just want to advise people that if they do bring food with them, the only cupboard for storage we found was to the right of the kitchen window next to the fridge, but the cupboard itself gets very warm and so does the work surface. We realised that the boiler is housed under the work surface itself, so be careful as the heat shortens the shelf life of certain food stuffs.Thank you for helping to make our special stay that bit more special.

Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi Anne. We are delighted you enjoyed your honeymoon at Folly Rigg and we do agree the cottage is comfortable and beautiful and the hampers are always so lovely. Access to the cottage is a via key safe to allow guests extra flexibility with arrival time, however a friendly text is always sent to new guests. The dresser in the kitchen dining area has cupboard space for food and also the cupboard above the freezer, this may have been overlooked during your stay, but you will be aware of this when you return celebrate your wedding anniversary!
