Once cleaned up and ready to relax, make a beeline for the kitchen/diner and put the kettle on. In the winter months, you can create an extremely snuggly atmosphere here with the Aga on to fill the space with a warm, comfortable heat. Don’t worry about having to rustle up your favourite dishes on the Aga, however, as there’s an electric oven and hob on-hand ready for mealtimes.

This same warm and welcoming atmosphere is continued in the lounge which is also on the ground floor. Having enjoyed dinner and cleaned dishes away into the dishwasher, step on through and make yourselves comfortable. With traditional design features and a fireplace with a working wood burner, this room is simply perfect for whiling away a relaxing night together. Switch on the Smart TV and chose a family favourite film to see you through to bedtime.

Along with a handy downstairs WC with charming dog-themed feature wallpaper, this property is served by a first-floor bathroom which can be shared by all of the family. Get a refreshing shower in the morning or slide into a bubbly bath late at night.

Also on this floor sits three beautifully presented bedrooms, all of which boast views of the garden and surrounding countryside scenery. The largest room is a wonderful king-size, complete with a wrought-iron bed frame, plenty of storage solution and a Teamaid for your first cup of tea each morning. Both this bedroom and the adjacent double bedroom boast beautiful feature fireplaces and country-style wooden doors which add to the traditional style of the place.

The third and final bedroom is a pretty twin with delightful accents. Complete with two comfortable single beds and a dressing table, this slightly smaller room has been perfectly appointed for any two sharers or younger guests.

Benefiting from such a rural location, the property offers an extremely generous allocation of enclosed and entirely private garden. Set to lawn and boasting mature shrubbery all around, this beautiful garden is the place to be come summer months. You’ll find a small patio area with outdoor furniture, ideal for bringing dinner outside, and a gas BBQ for those balmy summer afternoons. With one local pub serving excellent local grub, the surrounding village of Bagby is a delightful place to stay on the outskirts of Thirsk (2 miles). An ever-popular market town that’s rich with the history of James Herriot, Thirsk is a fantastic spot for an afternoon of moseying around within North Yorkshire. Many convene in the area for sporting events at Thirsk Racecourse at the edge of town.

Just a short drive away, the attractive town of Bedale (23 miles) is a great place to have a coffee and then make your way around the town's antique shops and independent boutiques. Foodies will be delighted by the range of local produce, including beers and cheeses, on offer.

The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon (13 miles) boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tearooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle (20 miles), Newby Hall (13 miles) and Norton Conyers (14 miles). Visit lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden, 15.5 miles away – this World Heritage Site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Harrogate (23.5 miles) is an absolute must-visit if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous Stray, or 200 acres, of horseshoe-shaped grassland, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (13 miles) on the western side of the North York Moors is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. ?
