Lovingly designed chocolate-box holiday home set in the pretty North York Moors village of Hutton Buscel, sitting within easy reach of the picturesque Yorkshire Coast and its attractions.

This property is so beautiful that it has been featured in The Guardian and Ideal Home Magazine. Stunning interiors created by an owner passionate about design, chocolate-box good looks from the outside, magical gardens to escape into and set in a picture-postcard North York Moors village just 7 miles from the Yorkshire Coast, this is a very special cottage.

Enter via the pretty porch with original terracotta tile flooring, and you will find a large and brightly coloured kitchen. A comfortable dining table sits here with views out onto the breakfast terrace from the patio doors. There's a range cooker for those who love to cook, with lots of cookbooks to inspire you, while a separate utility houses a cloakroom and shower.

Reflecting the owner's love of travel, the formal dining room has a striking appeal with deep red walls and carefully chosen pieces from around the world. Double French doors open up into the sitting room featuring sumptuous seating and an open fire. A large original piece of artwork above the fire gives this room a vibrant feel.

Make your way upstairs to find the first of the three bedrooms; an incredibly sweet twin room with white iron beds and colourful patchwork throws. Next door sits a large double room with a king-size bed that looks out to the front of the cottage, the light in here is magical with dappled sunshine twinkling through onto the bed. The last bedroom is another double with lovely views out to the garden and an en-suite cloakroom. The family bathroom, inclusive of bath, sits between all three.

With so much to enjoy inside the property it's a thrill to find the gardens are also wonderful. With strategically placed seating areas, it's possible to experience the gardens in different ways throughout the day. Take your morning coffee by the kitchen patio, enjoy a spot of lunch by the pond and relax with a glass of something good on one of the pretty benches by the lawn that evening.

This idyllic escape is in an idyllic location close to the Yorkshire Coast. As it’s set in the pretty North York Moors village of Hutton Buscel, you can strike out for a walk right from the doorstep. Strolling down to the local tea rooms for a slice of cake is a pleasure, as is walking amongst meadows and the local Ryedale sheep.

Sitting at the eastern foot of the North York Moors, the region's dramatic landscape of heather and open moorland is just a short drive away. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. Yet there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. In place of harsh limestone and dramatic peaks, you'll find gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it’s cast in comforting soft focus.

We recommend taking the road from Thornton-Le-Dale (10 miles) or Pickering (12 miles) north towards Whitby (25 miles) to experience it in all its grandeur. There are countless pretty villages and towns to explore in the area. The handsome market towns of Pickering and Helmsley (25 miles) are a must, as is the archetypical Moors village of Hutton-le-Hole (23 miles).

This property is one of our luxury cottages close to the Yorkshire Coast. Much like its Cornish counterpart, the North Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n’ spade territory. The coastal villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby (25 miles). Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries.

Although you could happily spend the weekend mooching about the independent shops, bars and cafes along Whitby's bustling medieval streets, it's worth striking out to sample some of the other lesser known coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood's Bay (18 miles) and Sandsend (25 miles) each have their own unique charm.

This property is personally managed by Phil.

Loved the washing up bowl so much, I bought one when I got home( I know that sounds sad, but it was a scandinavian design!!).
