The village of Great Ayton is perched on the banks of the River Leven. Around the village there are several interesting walks, also an excellent base for the more adventurous walker wishing to explore the nearby North York Moors National Park, especially in the summer months when the moors turn purple with blooming heather. The village of Stokesley is a must visit, with cobbled streets, boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. Head to the Yorkshire heritage coastline with fishing villages of Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Saltburn with winding streets and where fish and chips are a must. Local iconic landmark Roseberry Topping is located within close proximity, a must see, with routes to the top so you can enjoy the spectacular views from the summit.

The lodge is approached via some steps leading up to the decked veranda area which leads you to the front door, stepping through into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, you’ll instantly love the characterful decor. There is plenty of seating to relax and dine at the large table at mealtimes, big enough for the whole family or a celebration meal. The lounge features a Smart TV with Sky, perfect for relaxing after a long day. Following into the kitchen, the first thing you notice is the large round mirrors and central island where you can perch at the breakfast bar and enjoy some breakfast before a day of exploring. Equipped with all your home comforts and everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal including an electric oven and gas hob, American style fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The door to the right leads out to the side terrace and hot tub. Beside the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine. Completing the ground floor is a shower room with shower and WC. An additional door leads to the outside where your four-legged friend can enjoy their own space in the ‘Doghouse’. Head up the stairs to the first floor and the trendy decor continues. The large landing area has two chairs which can open to become two additional single beds for extra guests. There are two bedrooms on this floor, both have king-size beds with individual styles, and both lead out to a shared veranda where you can while away the hours in the hammock or simply sit and enjoy the view. There is also a luxurious shower room with shower and WC, with lovely cosmetic dispensers and robes. Head up to the second floor which is excellent for families. On the landing area you will find twin beds, and access to the double bedroom.

Outside the decking sweeps around the lodge to the private hot tub with nearby outdoor seating, a fantastic place to enjoy the summer nights with loved ones and dine alfresco. There is free parking available in the nearby public car park, subject to availability.

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
