Situated in historic Richmond, browse the pubs, shops and restaurants huddled around the pretty cobbled market square. Enjoy a stroll to Richmond Falls and follow the River Swale down to the National Trust’s Hudswell Woods, taking in the picturesque scenery along the way. History lovers are spoilt for attractions, with the iconic Richmond Castle, two museums, a war memorial the ruins of Easby Abbey just 1.5 miles away. A visit to The Station, a disused railway station, is a perfect way to end a day with tea and cake where you also find a two-screen cinema, artisan deli, and local art gallery. Set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, there’s no shortage of countryside to explore, with Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as the North Pennines and Nidderdale both within 20 miles.

Take the six steps to the entrance of the property and enter the hallway, leaving behind your coats and boots at the door. The cottage has been thoughtfully renovated, offering a stylish and contemporary style throughout. Head through to the lounge and relax after a long day of exploring, watch your favourite movie on the Smart TV and cosy up in front of the wood burner effect gas fire. The well-appointed kitchen/diner boasts glass roof windows, allowing natural light to flood in during the day and creating the perfect spot for dining under the stars at night. Also, on the ground floor is the first of the two bedrooms, featuring a king-size bed with a hanging rail for your belongings. Heading up the narrow cottage-style stairs to the first floor, you will find another king-size bedroom beside the modern bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Venturing outside, you will be greeted by a lawned area to the front of the property and an enclosed garden to the rear. Head up two steps to the gravelled area and relax on the garden furniture or chat into the evening by the warmth of the fire pit. Plunge into the bubbly hot tub and ease your tired muscles after an action-packed day - the ultimate way to unwind with a glass of fizz!

We had a fabulous stay at the Gallowgate cottage. Very welcoming cosy little cottage, well equipped and great enclosed garden for the use of the hot tub. Short walking distance into a great little town with a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. Would definitely come back!
