This superb property dates back over 300 years ago and was once the heart of a working family farm, completely renovated with plenty of period charm with a contemporary twist, this property is ideally located for everyone.

This gorgeous detached farmhouse on the outskirts of the peaceful village of Hudswell in Yorkshire is the ideal property for large groups of families or friends. Perfectly positioned within stunning Swaledale, guests can make the most of the Yorkshire Dales National Park; there is a wealth of walking trails and cycling routes to discover as well as plenty of market towns/villages to stroll around, such as Richmond (3.5 miles) and Reeth (9.5 miles). Often referred to as ‘the capital of Swaledale’, Reeth is a delightful village at the base of a natural amphitheatre with some stunning panoramic views and scenery. It also has a range of shops and restaurants to choose from and a regular market. There is plenty of heritage in the area as Reeth once played a vital role in the lead-mining industry. The village of Hudswell itself is a small village but has a pub which is ideal when you don’t feel like cooking.

The owners have lovingly renovated this 200-year-old house to ensure original features sit effortlessly alongside contemporary design. Each room has its own unique style with an eclectic mix of furniture and artwork, which adds character, interest and flair throughout.

The large, well-equipped kitchen/diner has everything you’ll need to cater for you and your fellow guests. It is bright and airy with neutral greys and whites reflecting light, which is a stark contrast to the sumptuous deep tones and rich textures in the adjacent lounge. This is a cosy room where you can snuggle up in front of the wood burner of an evening.

On the ground floor, you will also find a pretty double bedroom, a twin bedroom with access to the garden and a bathroom with a shower. Up the cottage-style stairs, you will find three further bedrooms (one double, one four-poster and one twin), which are once again all stylishly decorated and have views of the garden. There is also a lovely family bathroom on this floor.

Outside, you will find a tranquil, enclosed garden and patio area with garden furniture, a fire pit and a sheltered charcoal BBQ area. The kids will love the play equipment provided for them and saying hello to the neighbouring sheep, lambs and horses. A large shed is ideal bicycle storage and there are stables for four horses next to the property. There is ample off-road parking for six cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 5 Bedrooms – 1 four poster, 2 doubles and 2 twins
  • 1 Shower room, 1 bathroom and 1 en-suite bathroom
  • Electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave
  • Stabling for 4 horses - arranged direct with the owner
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs provided)
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Off-road parking for 6 cars, EV's please note, charging is not permitted at the property
  • Wi-Fi included. Please note due to remote location speeds can vary
  • 2 Dogs welcome
  • Pub a short walk from the property
  • Storage for bikes
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • Fire pit and sheltered charcoal BBQ

Richmond (3.5 miles) is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and less than a mile across the river are the River Swale Waterfalls (3 miles from the property). You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 10.5 miles away near Middleham.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just 5.5 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the Abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking sights to explore in the Dales, including Aysgarth Falls (11.5 miles) which were featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves!

The nearby village of Aysgarth (16 miles) boasts many great options to eat and, if you visit in spring, you can’t leave without a visit to Freeholders’ Wood where bluebells, anemones and primroses will be in full bloom.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by, and the Pennine Way (around 20 miles away).

After reading the reviews we were worried. The property from the outside doesnt look like the photos, it is over grown, but its winter so we werent too fussed about outside. Had an amazing stay. 8 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs, we were never short of room and it was lovely for us all to be able to relax together in the lounge on an evening as there was ample seating for us all. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome basket with coffee, tea and milk so we were able to enjoy a cup of tea whilst unpacking.

Green Lane Farm is located in the most fabulous part of N. Yorkshire in a lovely village. It is not found however as seen in the photos, it is tired and worn, the garden is unrecognisable and overgrown and in place of the sheep and horses shown in the pictures there is a glamping site. The owner is trying to make it work, a lovely welcome basket waRead mores left for us and the camping has a 10.30 curfew. There is only 1 shower ( + 2baths) for 10 people. The cottage is in a good location with only a short drive to Richmond. The cottage is nice, however it needs cleaning better and needs quite a bit of work doing to it. Lovely cottage in a great location, big enough for all of us. Warm even in winter. Peaceful but only a short drive to lots of amenities.
