The nearby River Nidd winds its way through the old town, and there’s an excellent park on the banks of the river. The Nidd Valley offers some wonderful opportunities for keen walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers, or you can head just a few miles west to explore the quaint villages, historic towns and wide expanses of the Yorkshire Dales. Spend a day browsing around the delightful town of Harrogate (15 miles), with its fabulous mix of cafes, art galleries, artisan shops and attractions including the Turkish Baths and the Royal Pump Room. Or head to the pretty village of Grassington (11 miles) – the location for the TV show All Creatures Great and Small.
