This lovely cottage is set in the village of Ellerton, a charming little village less than 15 miles from York. You have the best of both worlds here, the delightful small village atmosphere of old Yorkshire twinned with the vibrant city of York.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York is one of the best visitor destinations in England. Make your way around its medieval cobbled streets and discover its many shops, cafes and restaurants.

Ellerton is an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Wolds. Still a relatively quiet location in terms of tourism, the Yorkshire Wolds are a range of beautiful low rolling hills rising from the Humber River and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head, peppered with countless pretty villages and towns. A favourite with David Hockney, it inspired many of his greatest works including 'Bigger Trees Near Warter’.

The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling. The Wolds are home to many historical homes and religious sites, as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens.

You are also well-placed to discover the stunning North York Moors, this dramatic landscape of heather and open moorland is around 25 miles away. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. Yet there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. In place of harsh limestone and dramatic peaks you'll find gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it’s cast in comforting soft focus.

Harrys Stable is superbly equipped and well appointed. The furniture is perfect for a barn conversion and the huge copper bath in the master bedroom is fantastic. One of our party has mobility issues so the walk in shower and all on one floor was perfect. A beautiful cottage, thats sits very well within private land. Well thought out and had more than expected for a holiday cottage, such as bathrobes, white towelling slippers and toiletries. Very well positioned for local villages and restaurants and York is a 30 minute trip. Would love to stay again.
