A newly converted two-bedroom cottage, perfect for keen walkers or cyclists seeking to explore the stunning countryside of North Yorkshire by foot or by bike.

Soak in the hot tub and gaze out at the splendid Yorkshire views from this gorgeous retreat in the village of Brompton, 2.5 miles from Northallerton. The chic holiday home looks out across fields towards hills in the distance and enjoys a sense of serenity that will help you to feel as if you have truly escaped from it all. Sleeping four guests in two bedrooms, the exceptional, single-storey property offers luxurious accommodation from its position between the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Dales. Explore your surroundings on foot or two wheels and enjoy your proximity to some superb beauty spots and attractive towns and villages.

Head into the market town of Northallerton to shop for tasty local produce in independent shops and market stalls. Visit art galleries and dine out too while you are here. Head to Scruton, 8 miles away, to catch a train along the heritage Wensleydale Railway or venture 6 miles to an area of woodland just inside the North York Moors National Park to see the famous ruins of Mount Grace Priory.

Wander into this bright and beautiful conversion to find gorgeous and carefully created accommodation. Leave your outerwear in the hall and make your way into its spectacular open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Enjoy the ambience of this light-filled space; pull open the bi-folding doors on warm days and fire up the stylish wood burner whenever it is cold. Then make yourselves at home on the comfortable furniture.

Lose yourselves in the scenic vistas or find a programme to enjoy together on the Smart TV. Stroll in and out between the house and garden, savouring the seamless indoor-outdoor living. You’ll find everything you need in the kitchen area to help you prepare delicious meals. Cook dinner for your party, then lay the table for a sumptuous feast. Make a fresh cup of coffee in the machine afterwards. Find an adjoining utility room, with a handy washing machine and dryer, plus a dishwasher, close by.

At the end of each lovely day away at this beautiful property, amble through to either the king-size bedroom or the super-king-size, which has zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as singles in advance. Wake up to enjoy a refreshing shower and take your coffee out into the morning sunshine. Spend as much time out here as possible during the day whenever you are just relaxing at the cottage. Light the BBQ in the evenings then bubble in the hot tub with a glass of something fizzy as it heats up. You’ll find parking for two cars at the cottage.

Drive to Boltby, 6 miles away, on the edge of the national park, to go pony trekking. Visit the forest here too for leafy walks and stunning views. This stretch of woodland is also popular with cyclists. Head 24 miles to the beautiful market town of Helmsley, which is also well worth a visit. See the castle, wander around the walled gardens and spend time at the National Centre for Birds of Prey.

The charming market town of Richmond is just 17 miles from Brompton. Set on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale, it boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river – less than a mile – are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Just 5.5 miles from your base, the vibrant little village of Osmotherley is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you’re a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis.

Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the village has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns, and the views from here are simply stunning, with walks and cycle routes in every direction. You are also very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

A wonderful property (immaculately clean and comfortable) in a great location, just 5 minutes from the conveniences of Northallerton and within easy reach of some of the many visitor attractions of this lovely area. Genuinely welcoming owners. Would definitely return (missing the view and the hot tub!).
