Ideally located in the pretty village of Great Broughton, on the outskirts on the North York National Park, ideal for family or friends looking to explore the wonderful North Yorkshire countryside and coastline.

This wonderful cottage is in a peaceful location in a favoured position just outside of the North York Moors National Park. Set right next to Broughton Bridge Beck that runs under the road, you’re in a quiet position but have the benefit of a pub, restaurant and shop within half a mile of the front door. With plenty of room for up to four people, this holiday let is brimming with contemporary country-style character and is in a perfect position for exploring both coast and country. Stunning Whitby is just 31.5 miles away, while pretty Hutton-le-Hole is 23 miles away.

Step into the hallway from the street and leave your boots and coats in the hallway before heading to the bright and airy open-plan living area. Cool and calming tones paired with rich and warm accents in the living area’s furniture and furnishings make this a cosy place to relax in after a long day, curled up on the sofa in front of the wood burner. Painted wood beams and a stunning wooden floor create a welcoming atmosphere that will encourage you to stay there all evening. Make yourself comfortable and watch your favourite TV shows or films on the Smart TV that also has a Netflix subscription to wind down and recharge your batteries.

Culinary guests will revel in the kitchen which has everything you need to cook up a storm – or maybe just enjoy something delicious from the welcome pack! Superb wooden worktops and lightly coloured cabinets carry on the bright and airy atmosphere, while the Belfast sink adds a touch of style. Have sociable meals around the dining table that’s perfect for four and plan the next day’s adventures over tasty food and your favourite tipple.

When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the first floor where a fantastic bathroom awaits you; take a sumptuous soak in the freestanding bath to ease aching muscles after a long day out walking on the moors, surrounded by soothing tones and grand fixtures and fittings. The twin bedroom is ideal for friends or children and promotes a great night’s sleep with tranquil decor and painted wooden beams.

Head up to the second floor where a peaceful king-size bedroom awaits you among vaulted ceilings and fresh white tones that blends seamlessly with pops of colour. Enjoy a great night’s sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to take on a day of walking and exploring this beautiful area. But if you’re up for a lazy morning, chill in bed watching Netflix on the Smart TV.

There’s no outside space with this house but there’s secure bike storage so there’s no need to leave your bikes at home; discover the many public footpaths that lead through the village along the banks of Broughton Beck, and further along the River Leven towards Stokesley (2.5 miles). If your four-legged friend is joining you these routes are perfect for walkies, and a small park with a play area and field less than 200 metres from the front door is ideal for small people on two legs as well as four.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 Bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 Bathroom with bath and WC
  • Electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Roadside parking
  • Secure bike storage
  • Pub, shop and restaurants within walking distance
  • Welcome hamper included

Once you’ve explored Stokesley from the footpaths, travel a little further to the attractive village of Great Ayton (4.5 miles) that has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (6.5 miles), a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (12.5 miles) is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, Osmotherley has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, and there are walks and cycle routes in every direction. You are very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

Great Ayton’s position at the northern end of the North York Moors means the coast is easily accessible from here. To breathe in the fresh, sea air, head to seaside town Saltburn-by-the-Sea (16.5 miles) with its pier, cliff tramway, golden sand and clean surf.

Lovely cosy cottage in a peaceful location. Having a dog, a lack of garden did concern us, but this was not an issue as great walks right on the doorstep. Fantastic welcome package including wine, jams, milk, butter, eggs, fresh flowers etc for us, and a bone, comfy bed and towel for the dog made us all feel very welcome. Jet Miners Inn served greaRead moret food, unfortunately it was closed after our initial visit due to their holidays, but would recommend. Helen was a great host, thank you. Hide

Holly Cottage is a beautifully renovated cottage in a stunning location, ideal for exploring N York Moors. Very comfortable accommodation for the two of us, though maybe quite 'cosy' for 4. We are keen cyclists so there is plenty of choice of easy or more challenging routes. Lovely welcoming touches when we arrived: fresh flowers, bread, butter, miRead morelk etc., and a fabulous bath to soak in after a day on the moors. Excellent communication from Helen before, during and after our stay. Hide

The perfect cottage for our family. Beautifully decorated and clean, and the selection of local goodies that greeted us was a super touch. Dont be put off by the lack of garden, there is a park 50yards away, a bench under the front window and a crystal clear stream that our children fished in across the very quiet road. This is the territory of walRead morekers and cyclists, and the view of Wainstones will pull you from the comfort of your bed. Fab beaches at Whitby, Runswick, Staithes within 30 mins Hide
