Snug and inviting, this pretty retreat is well-suited for couples or small families wishing to spend some time away from it all in a picturesque rural location on the edge of the North York Moors.

This cosy terraced-cottage in the delightful village of Osmotherley is an ideal property for a couple or small family. Situated on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park and within 25 miles of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west, there is a wealth of stunning countryside to explore nearby. Whether you want heather-clad moorland, rolling green hills, dramatic waterfalls or ancient woodland, this area has it all. You can explore on foot or by bike with plenty of trails and routes to suit all abilities. With a plethora of flora and fauna to discover, ensure you always have your spotters’ guides, binoculars and camera to hand. Historians will also be kept busy with lots of historical buildings and places of interest nearby. The Cleveland Way National Trail passes through the village, whilst Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast passes close by, so it’s no wonder that the village has shops, pubs and a takeaway to choose from, which is great when you don’t feel like cooking after an exhausting day out and about.

Snug and inviting, this delightful cottage is nestled into a traditional terrace on a quiet lane in the village. It has been tastefully decorated to create a contemporary, yet sympathetic, feel throughout, with neutral walls accentuating the warm wooden tones of the original beams and classic furniture.

As you step in through the front door, hang up your coats and shake off your muddy boots, you’ll find yourself in the small, cosy lounge/diner. The wood burner is the focal point of the room, adding a sense of comfort and the sofas offer the perfect place to snuggle up of an evening. There is also a TV above the fireplace if you want to catch up with your favourite programme or watch a film. The dining table in the corner offers a lovely setting for a romantic dinner for two. Adjacent to the lounge/diner is the stylish, tiled shower room, which has been finished to a high standard. Further down the hallway is the kitchen, which is well-equipped with all the mod-cons needed to whip up a tasty meal and a washer dryer

Ascending the narrow staircase, you will come to the bedrooms. There is one super king-size (which can be made up as a twin on request) and one single with an additional pull-out bed. The king-size room has useful, original built-in wardrobes and the single room has a dressing room. Both bedrooms have been beautifully decorated in neutral tones to create a restful atmosphere.

There’s also a private enclosed patio garden with raised decking & Hot Tub, to the rear via shared access.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis.

Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the village has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, and there are walks and cycle routes in every direction. You very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley (26 miles) is within easy driving distance and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find the Verbena Spa here; perfect for a little me time indulgence.

The attractive village of Great Ayton is 13.5 miles away and has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (2.5 miles); a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

Spent Christmas here and have to say it's a lovely cottage in a lovely village however note the road is uneven and very hilly with tight bends. Hot tub is amazing but a short distance from the cottage. Shared access at the back so although you can take a dog you can't just let them out as it's not secure and they can get out on the road. There's 3 Read morepubs within walking distance plus a village store, a cafe and a chippy. The stairs are steep and there is no landing. Really enjoyed it - bed so comfy Hide
