A picturesque cottage situated between the Georgian market town of Richmond and Northallerton, this property invites families and friends to enjoy wining, dining and of course, relaxing.

Immerse yourselves in the natural beauty of scenic North Yorkshire, when you stay at this appealing cottage in the quiet hamlet of Kiplin, approximately 8.5 miles from Richmond, 7.5 miles from Northallerton and 8 miles from Bedale. Sleeping up to five guests, the three-bedroom abode, which is set on the owners’ farm but enjoys its privacy, makes a perfect family retreat or place for friends to stay.

From here, stroll over to magnificent Kiplin Hall and Gardens, with its impressive Jacobean mansion house, gorgeous gardens and beautiful parkland. Wander along beside the River Swale, pick up scenic cycle routes in the area or plan day trips out into the North York Moors National Park, 13.5 miles away, or the impressive Yorkshire Dales, 9 miles from the house.

Pause to enjoy the scenery before approaching and opening the front door to discover this cottage’s bright, airy interior. Find it has a stylish yet welcoming feel throughout, which will be just perfect for your exciting North Yorkshire stay. Make your way into the comfortable lounge after each exhilarating day out. Light the open fire in here; then simply relax, perhaps in front of the TV, and enjoy an evening together.

Wander on through to the kitchen/diner when mealtimes beckon and decide what to prepare with the fresh Yorkshire asparagus, rhubarb or game this area is so famous for and that you have sourced on your forays. Lay the table, light the wood burner in here so it emits a cosy glow and enjoy the presence of the dishwasher which means no one has to wash up. Find you also have a useful boot room, with access from the garden, making it a great place for leaving your outdoor clothing and footwear.

At the end of each lively day, climb the stairs and run yourself a steaming bath in the family bathroom. Afterwards, make your way into the inviting double room, the cosy single or the super-king-size room with zip-and-link beds.

Spill out into the sunshine of the back garden at every opportunity. Dine out here too as you gaze over the countryside. Find you can store bikes and that there is a garage for one small car.

While you are staying in Kiplin, take time out to visit the attractive town of Bedale, 8 miles away. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town’s antiques shops and independent boutiques. Shop for delicious local produce while you are here.

The charming market town of Leyburn, 16.5 miles from the cottage, also offers a typical slice of Dales country life. Here you will find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain.

Richmond, 8.5 miles from Kiplin, is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large, cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river, less than 1 mile away, are the scenic River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’ so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 17 miles from the cottage, near Middleham. Aysgarth Falls, 22.5 miles away, and Bolton Castle, 20 miles from your base, are also worth seeing.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just 7.5 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many picturesque routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close to Kiplin.

Nice place to stay while visiting / working. The log burner was nice, especially as it was a colder time of the year, also the home made bramble jam was superb. Nothing to complain about really, the place had character and most satisfactory for our needs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Kiplin Farm Cottage. Loved the location & the wonderful peace & quiet, the sun trap garden watching the birds, saw nuthatch, blue tits, great tits, a jay & a woodpecker. Lots of places to visit including "next door", Kiplin Hall, which we really enjoyed. All the guides are volunteers and are very friendly and inforRead moremative. We also appreciated the wonderful welcome pack, one of the most, if not the most, generous pack in many years of SC holidays. Thank you Liam. Hide
