Luxurious holiday home located within a Grade I listed tower dating back over 700 years boasting panoramic views over the medieval city of York with a whole host of attractions on your doorstep.

Experience first-hand York's medieval history in this fabulous 3-bedroom luxury holiday rental housed within a Grade I listed tower dating back over 700 years. With its central location, pretty garden by the river and absolutely fantastic roof terrace with beautiful, panoramic views over the city, this property is simply the place to stay in York.

Now a listed monument, the tower dates back to the reign of Richard the Lionheart and has stood by the river Ouse since 1299. In 2010, a team of skilled craftsmen set about transforming it into a unique and stunning holiday home. Although much care and attention has been paid to retain the character and historical importance, contemporary comforts have been added throughout to make a stay here most rewarding.

This property is surprisingly spacious inside and a place where you can discover history and elegance at every turn. On the ground level you'll find a very comfortable sitting room with flag-stone flooring, exposed oak beams and a double height ceiling taking you up to the mezzanine floor. It also comes complete with a Freeview and TV and Wii to keep you amused on evenings in.

The kitchen is stylish and well-equipped making it a pleasure to cook in and there is plenty of room in the dining area where all the guests can gather around the table. As well as this there is also a handy downstairs WC and shower room.

Head up the beautiful wooden spiral stairs to the first of the 3 double bedrooms; a bright and stylish bedroom housed on the mezzanine level. Onwards and upwards and you arrive at the second bedroom. Wood-panelled walls, a stone fire-place and grand 4-poster bed set a romantic note. The third bedroom is much the same, with sumptuous furnishings and a rich indulgent theme. Both of the main bedrooms feature stunning views of York and the river as well as having luxurious en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom also boasts an LCD TV & DVD Player which are perfect for lazy mornings.

Outside the property has a really pretty garden with uninterrupted views along the river: the perfect spot for lunch al fresco in the warmer months. The star of the show is the breathtaking roof-top terrace with 360-degree views of York. It's the perfect spot to sip on a G & T, watch the boats sail by and plan which restaurant to book that evening.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, York is one of the best destinations in England for a break away; York is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers and this ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2000 years. But that's not say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent young student population and its influx of tourists has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

This property enjoys an enviable location by the river in York's city centre. Located just by Lendal bridge, the bustling city centre and the famous York Minster and Shambles are just a few hundred metres away.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the old 14th century city walls. Middle age town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of jumbled streets is part of the fun. A word of warning to the girls: bring some flats for sight-seeing and shopping as the cobbles play havoc with heels!

And what's more, it really is a year-round location. Summer days can be spent lounging in one of the many gorgeous parks throughout the city and in the autumn York comes alive with shop windows sparkling in the dusky light. Its central location also makes a great base from which to explore the rest of glorious Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coastline all within easy reach for beautiful walks and adventurous days out.

We loved it ! Couldn't have been better situated in the heart of York. Scottish family came down to join us there specifically for the annual Viking festival and, among other things, were able to watch the fireworks from the roof terrace. We were blessed with most unseasonal February weather and managed to have Sunday afternoon tea in the gardeRead moren. We loved every moment of our stay there. The kitchen is most well equipped. The only problem was that the extractor / fan in the ground floor toilet, which has no other ventilation, was not working. Hide

Since my return, I have raved to everyone about Lendal Tower as being the best possible place to stay in York which must be the best possible small town to visit in the UK. Despite the direst weather, we had a brilliant time.
