This stylish holiday cottage is the perfect base to immerse yourself in the Yorkshire Dales and is an ideal retreat for enjoying a break away with family or friends with classy touches throughout.

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Yorkshire, this stunning, stone cottage offers families the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rural tranquillity. Just 3 miles away from the nearest village of Kirkby Malzeard (and its pub), only birdsong and the wind whispering through the trees will interrupt your peace and quiet, whilst you enjoy a morning coffee or evening tipple on the patio. If you love the great outdoors, this cottage is ideal for you as it has a wealth of walking and cycling trails on your doorstep. The cottage is spacious, yet cosy, with the occasional original feature adding character.

Stepping inside the property, you will conveniently find yourself in the utility room which is the perfect place for muddy boots and wet coats. You also have access to a drying room so that you can ensure your coat is warm and ready for the next day’s adventure. Moving through into the large, open-plan kitchen/diner, you can prepare yourselves a scrumptious meal whilst enjoying the company of other guests who may be sat on the charming pew or around the dining table. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a contemporary, cottage-style feel about it, with its warm wooden worktop and furniture.

Completing the ground floor is a bright and airy twin bedroom with a window allowing plenty of light to flood in, but blinds provide privacy when needed. There is also the contemporary, family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Heading up the sturdy, oak staircase, you will find the king-size master bedroom with its gorgeous, exposed beams and vaulted ceilings adding height and space. Also on this floor is the lounge with its Smart TV and selection of board games to keep you busy on a cold winter’s evening.

Outside, the cottage is surrounded by open spaces and has ample parking for up to two cars. There is also a delightful patio area with dining furniture so that you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining and continue to soak up the views of the Yorkshire countryside.

The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon is only 9 miles away and boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tea rooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle (11.5 miles), Newby Hall (13 miles) and Norton Conyers (12.5 miles). Visit lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden, 8 miles away – this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Harrogate (15 miles) is an absolute must-visit if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous Stray, or 200 acres, of horseshoe-shaped grassland, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

For those who want to get out and soak up some of Yorkshire’s natural beauty, the National Trust’s Brimham Rocks (8.5 miles) are dramatic, moorland rock formations where you can walk, cycle, climb or even partake in yoga. Nearby Gouthwaite Reservoir (7.5 miles) attracts a range of wetland birds and birds of prey, so it’s worth taking a stroll with your binoculars and packing your picnic and some patience.

The cottage is more spacious than it appears in the pictures, but otherwise they are accurate and it is as described on the website. The pictures do not do justice to the idyllic location, which is very peaceful but close enough to a lovely village with good facilities. Wr really enjoyed our first visit to this cottage, very well maintained lovely location between ripon and pately Bridge, places of interest to visit not too far. I think from the description of the cottage it makes it aware of lounge and 1 bedroom being on the first floor, this may be a problem for any one with mobility issues, or a old dog like usRead more who found the wooden stairs difficult. Would definitely return Hide
