Enjoying a rural setting within a small village, this converted barn offers a wealth of walking from the front door. It’s a great base for exploring the national park’s breathtaking landscapes and surrounding market towns.

This peaceful holiday retreat is in a lovely Vale of York village that’s surrounded by picturesque countryside. A great base for exploring the nearby national park and market towns, it has a wealth of at-home entertainment including a fabulous hot tub, TVs in every bedroom and a ‘snug’ with its own TV and PlayStation. Up to two dogs are welcome and the three blissful bedrooms include a sublime master suite, ensuring this is a property your entire family will love.

Kick off your boots and hang up your coats as you enter, and you’ll feel immediately at home. Step up into the spacious lounge and you’ll find comfortable sofas and a large Smart TV – fire up the wood burner and settle in for a movie night, or chill out with some music on the Bluetooth speaker. If children and teenagers want to do their own thing, let them take over the snug room next door where they can watch their own favourite shows on the Smart TV or immerse themselves in a PS4 game.

Mealtimes are when your family can really come together – prepare your favourite feast in the contemporary-styled kitchen (accessed via a couple of shallow steps) then gather around the dining table to tuck in and talk about your day. A useful downstairs cloakroom and utility room houses a freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer to complete your home-from-home housekeeping experience.

When night falls, take the stairs to a spacious first-floor landing, off of which you’ll find a fabulous super-king-size bedroom which has its own en-suite shower room, TV and plenty storage for all your belongings. There are two further bedrooms each with its own TV – one has a king-size bed and the other has a super-king-size zip-and-link which can be made up, upon request, as twins instead. A stylish family bathroom completes the convenience of this upper storey.

You’ll really appreciate the countryside setting when you slide open the patio doors and walk across to the large garden area where you can dine alfresco and wind down in the hot tub – a truly laid-back treat after a busy day. There’s a secure, lockable shed where you can store bicycles if you’d like to bring them, too.

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 super-king-size, 1 king-size, 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (can be twin on request)
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, en-suite shower room with shower and WC, and 1 downstairs WC
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, coffee machine
  • Utility room with washer/dryer, dishwasher and under counter freezer
  • 65" Smart TV in lounge, smart TV in the snug. 50" in master bedroom and 43" in other two bedrooms
  • Bluetooth speaker in kitchen and lounge

  • Patio and lawn area with outdoor furniture
  • Secure lockable storage for bikes
  • Meat or Veggie welcome pack on arrival
  • Off-street parking for 2 cars

  • Please note there is a steep step up in to the lounge and 2 x shallow steps down into the kitchen/dining area
  • The garden is across the driveway - there are electric gates at the top and bottom of the farm driveway
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Located in the rural village of Tollerton, this charming cottage is surrounded by a huge expanse of countryside walks and miles of country lanes so you can explore on foot or by bike from the doorstep. Within the village is a well-stocked shop and a village pub, while nearby Easingwold (4.5 miles) is a food lovers' paradise – you’ll adore its cosy pubs, charming cafes and tearooms.

No holiday here would be complete without a visit to York (11 miles) where you can meander around York Minster and the city walls, and stroll along cobbled lanes lined with independent shops. The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, York has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years – step back in time with visits to the Jorvik Viking Centre, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms.

The Victorian spa town of Harrogate (21 miles) is also well worth exploring – it’s home to some elegant eateries as well as the Royal Pump Room and the RHS garden, Harlow Carr. When it’s time to tire out the children, drive 16 miles into the gently rolling landscape of the Howardian Hills AONB to reach Castle Howard – one of the area’s most stunning stately homes, it has acres of grounds and gardens to explore and a high-energy adventure playground.

One final recommendation: 19 miles from your holiday home is Helmsley, the only market town in the North York Moors National Park. This attractive cream-stoned town is clustered around a broad marketplace and is home to a delicious selection of independent food shops as well as a medieval castle and a National Centre for Birds of Prey.
