The property is set within open countryside on the outskirts of Newton-le-Willows, a pretty little village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Equidistant from the Yorkshire market towns of Bedale and Leyburn, the village itself is charming and there is a welcoming tearoom with great views within walking distance from the cottage.

Beyond the village, the attractive town of Bedale is worth a visit. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town's antique shops. In the opposite direction, you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain.

Nearby you'll also find the historic town of Richmond and Masham, a thriving market town where handsome Georgian buildings gather around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England famous for its sheep sale where in the past as many as 70,000 sheep were sold here every year. The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September each year and commemorates these times.

There are lots of delights to discover in the town including an excellent fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several very good butchers. And if you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries, Theakstons and Black Sheep. Both have visitor centres where you can take brewery tours, sample their ales, enjoy excellent food and perhaps take a few bottles home for later too.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the property. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both under 18 miles away and the attractive villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within 23 miles, so lots of choices for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country.

This property is personally managed by Rupert.

Very well presented and cozy cottage. Ideal for two with a lovely, comfortable king size bed. Small garden was idea for letting our two dogs out to do their business. Enjoyed our stay in spite of the wet and windy weather. We wanted a relaxing holiday, the cottage provided that. Excellent walks locally with our dogs. Cottage was very comfy, very quiet, remote and off beaten track, but handy location for getting to Bedale, Leyburn & Thirsk etc.

Overall a good relaxing break in a warm and comfortable cottage. The stairs took a bit of getting used to again after having lived in a bungalow for several years now. The garden and drive were dog proofed once the gate at the entrance was closed. The welcome pack was a nice gesture and even some fresh milk was in the fridge.

We loved every minute of our stay at Manor Grange and wished we could have stayed for longer. The one and only down side was having to drive for shops or a Read morelocal pub (there wasn't one). But that was a very small disadvantage and everything else was absolutely perfect. Lovely comfortable cottage, nice big bed and great shower, lacking some kitchen equipment, we purchased a washing up brush for them. We enjoyed our holiday at Manor Grange Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and tastefully decorated making it a comfortabe place to stay. I wouldnt normally stay in a cottage without a washing machine but I believe the dishwasher provided made for a more relaxing holiday. The location of Manor GranRead morege is close to the town of Bedale and has quick access to major roads which allows for visits to both the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. Just a couple of moans:The main picture of the cottage on the website is slightly misleading with an open gate to the left implying access to a private side garden, this was solidly padlocked during our stay and the cottages garden was the front of the house which was overlooked by a another house. Of the two windows in the bedroom only one could be opened, not fully at night because of the blind, it was warm during our stay and it would have been good to get more air into the room. There were roof windows in the bathroom and above the landing but no pole to open them. The ice box in the fridge was heavily frosted up, we struggled to get even ice packs for our cooler in there.Despite the well equipped kitchen there was not even one dishwasher tablet nor a dishwasher cloth provided. Im sure this was an oversight. Having said all of that we did enjoy our stay.

Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi Bernadette, Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated. We have spoken to the owner who has confirmed the freezer was iced up, this has now been rectified. There is an initial supply of 3 or 4 dishwasher tablets and there should have been 2 dishcloths this will be looked into. There is one opening window in bedroom , but does open two ways, one fully, even with blind down. The owner will look into providing poles for the velux windows. Once again thank you for your feedback and we are delighted you found the cottage comfortable and enjoyed your stay. Yorkshire is a marvellous place and we do hope you come back soon.
