Escape to this recently converted retreat, nestled in the Nidderdale Valley amongst a plethora of beautiful walks and historic villages, offering a memorable getaway for up to four guests.

Hidden away in what was once the town mill, this charming abode is part of a historic property that boasts marvellous riverside views and easy access to the stunning Yorkshire Dales. It is the perfect vantage point for couples or small groups of up to four guests seeking a unique stay in simply marvellous surroundings. Stroll through the village and sample delicious local fare in the friendly pub and then work off your meal with a bracing walk along the banks of the River Nidd. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is awash with potential for discovery, and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore at leisure.

Marrying different periods through style, texture and colour, the interior of the property is characterised by traditional beamed ceilings, contemporary decor and all the home comforts you could wish for. At one end of the open-plan living space is the kitchen area, a resplendent nook for preparing all your favourite meals crafted using only the finest local produce from nearby market towns and sleepy villages. There are built-in appliances including an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave and ample worktop space for your culinary creations, and there’s a bijou-style table for suppers a deux. Recline on the sofas, sinking into the voluminous cushions to watch TV or simply sit back, appreciate the ambience, and rest your weary limbs after your adventures whilst taking your first sip of hot chocolate.

Steep carpeted stairs ascend to the first floor to reveal the first of two bedrooms, a marvellous retreat that features simple yet sophisticated decor, storage and a deliciously comfortable bed dressed in crisp linen, scatter cushions and a cosy throw. A pamper session is well deserved, so arm yourself with a few luxuries and venture next door to the elegant shower room for a wonderful hot shower.

Another door conceals yet more stairs that lead to the final bedroom, the piece de resistance of this impressive property. An asymmetrical sloped ceiling, several timber beams and small yet effective windows give this room an art deco-inspired vibe, and the delightful bed again features crisp linen, soft throws and scatter cushions. This room also has the bonus feature of its own en-suite shower and WC for a splash of indulgence. The TV is also a welcome feature for when you wish to escape back to your room and catch up on your favourite shows in peace.

There may not be an outside space attached to this property, but pausing as you cross the cobbled courtyard beneath the original clocktower will reward you with the tranquil sounds of running water cascading past teamed with birdsong from the surrounding trees. You’ll have oodles of trails to choose from for adventures leading from the village off into the countryside, not to mention several tempting pubs for hearty lunches and refreshing tall glasses of local ale. Allocated parking is available for one car too; a must for when you feel like nipping out for an evening meal without worrying you’ll lose your space.

Glasshouses is a chocolate-box village tucked on the banks of the River Nidd with the stunning Yorkshire Dales as its backdrop. A haven for walking, cycling and horse riding, you’ll discover a wealth of exciting trails from the comfort of your doorstep including the renowned Nidderdale Way and Six Dales Trail.

Pateley Bridge itself is a charming little market town 1.5 miles along the river and is a very typical example of this area of Yorkshire’s most popular towns. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop, everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s.

Pateley Bridge sits at the heart of the breathtaking Nidderdale landscape, itself an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and immediately adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Adrenaline junkies can satisfy their sense of adventure with water sports, caving and fell running, all of which are not for the faint-hearted!

There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks (3 miles) and the famous Three Peaks. Or, check out the cathedral town of Ripon which is also well worth a visit and is just 10.5 miles away, with its regal castle overlooking the town below. The RHS garden at Harlow Carr (14.5 miles) is a great place to visit for those that love flowers and plants.

Take a spa day or have a massage at the Turkish Baths in the cosmopolitan town of Harrogate, 13 miles. Time a visit with the Great Yorkshire Show – it is a massive platform for farmers and local craft-makers to showcase their way of life and their produce on a grand scale. Harrogate is best known for its convention centres and it’s an events hub too, so it’s worth seeing what is on their programme.

A beautiful and relaxing setting in a small village with lovely easy walks to other stunning villages. It is a tranquil spot. The cottage was spotless. Probably more suited to 2 adults and children as the dining table / area was very small. But for two adults it is absolutely fine. The owners communicated before the holiday and were very helpful anRead mored speedy about answering our queries.. There is no garden but plenty of open space for walking as mentioned. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hide

Lovely cottage deserving all of its 5 stars. Well-equipped, comfortable and immaculately clean. Location has 4 stars due to the fact that there are no pubs, shops etc in the immediate vicinity. That said, it is a short and pleasant walk along the river to Pateley Bridge, where these facilities can be found in abundance.

Lovely cottage in Glasshouses Mill. Great location for walking straight from the cottage and also exploring Nidderdale and the wider Yorkshire Dales. Great bedrooms, although a little tight on space downstairs if 4 are staying.
